22.5 hiking miles, including 6 Wainwrights, for me this week. Here are 4 more pics from the fab Greenburn Round - with @kitzingercelia.bsky.social - on Tuesday.

My first post-surgery 'round': 4 Wainwrights today on the 8-mile Greenburn Round above Grasmere. Sunny beginning, increasing wind, driving rain for most of the descent. Loved it! So happy to be properly back on the fells #LakeDistrict
Clearly it takes a septuagenarian to carry water bottles off a fell ... Thank you!
Thanks!

Lovely up on Fleetwith Pike this morning (though had to clear litter, scatter firepits, and carry down seven abandoned water bottles ...) #LakeDistrict @kitzingercelia.bsky.social
Love the Buttermere light!
A good walking week, despite very mixed weather.
26 boots-on hiking miles, including 5 Wainwright fells.

Snow-capped Grisedale Pike, with trees in mid-distance and ewe and lamb in field in foreground
Fresh snow on the tops and newborn lambs in the fields this morning. Very windy in the northern #LakeDistrict
Sue scrambling up a rocky slope on Catbells, Derwentwater beyond
Sue at the rocky summit of Catbells, Derwentwater behind
Early start to beat the holiday hordes on Catbells, on another blue sky day in the #LakeDistrict - pretty windy though. First bit of scrambling for new knee (worked OK!) and 18th Wainwright summit since surgery 12 weeks ago

Along the High Rigg ridge this morning, and back through St John's in the Vale. Daffs looking good at church - and stopped to pay our respects to John Richardson #LakeDistrict #dialectpoet @kitzingercelia.bsky.social

Small figure on ridge, on descent to Troutbeck from Wansfell
View towards Derwentwater from summit of Castle Crag. Conifers in foreground, a misty Skiddaw range beyond the lake
This week's total towards #nhs1000miles: 22 hiking miles, including 4 Wainwrights. Not bad for a 12-week-old knee! #LakeDistrict @kitzingercelia.bsky.social
Quick ascent of Castle Crag this morning with @kitzingercelia.bsky.social, ahead of the coming storm #LakeDistrict
Cover of cast list from 'Lark Rise to Candleford'
A night out @tbtlake.bsky.social, Keswick - exuberant performance from a versatile and very talented cast of six actor-musicians. Bravo!
Indeed!
Wow - a bit different from here!
Thanks - yes (it was tired but not painful)!

Gorgeous day in the #LakeDistrict - perfect for testing out my new knee over 8 miles & nearly 600 metres ascent/descent. (She did well - might just have been headed for a liquid reward in pic 3) Thanks to @kitzingercelia.bsky.social for the pics
Long-tailed tit perched on woody stems of a flowering currant bush (phone pic from a distance, and through glass)
Long-tailed tit outside my office window this morning
Sue striding out across a gold & brown Whinlatter Fell, blue sky & white clouds above
Grabbed the weather window today, for a (sunny + windy) bimble up on Whinlatter with @kitzingercelia.bsky.social. Pouring with rain in the #LakeDistrict now
Sue - in pink jacket with blue rucksack - standing on Rannerdale Knotts, looking across Crummock Water, with Mellbreak beyond and Loweswater in the far distance
Revisiting Rannerdale Knotts today. When last here (in 2003) I was recording a video clip about the 'Battle of Rannerdale' in Rosemary Sutcliff's novel, 'The Shield Ring' - part of my 'Literature, Romanticism & the English Lake District' MA coursework on children's literature cumbriauni.bsky.social
More power to your boots, Dave! (Look forward to posts on the other place ...)
It was on Fri PM. Check out the photos folk have been posting today ...!
Sue - in pink - on summit of Barrow. Heather flanks the path in the foreground, and the 'knuckles' of Causey Pike rise up behind.
Sue taking the last few steps up to the rocky summit of Walla Crag. The view behind her is Derwentwater and its islands, looking west.
11 hiking miles this week - making the most of the (limited) weather windows in the #LakeDistrict. Included 2 more small Wainwrights: Barrow and Walla Crag.
YTD 103.5 miles - a little under half of what's needed to be on target for #nhs1000miles - but not too bad with an 11-week-old new knee!
Wow - fabulous! Lucky you!
One week today! Join me online at 6pm on Tuesday 31 March to find out more about our unique Ambleside-based MA in Literature, Romanticism and the Lake District ππ
