Not just lose a job. Potentially be convicted of a felony and go to prison. That's the bind Texas has put them in.

Being an #Astros fan right now means checking the score in the 2nd before deciding whether or not to turn the game on. And then biting your nails once the bullpen comes in.

We happened to drive by the stadium on 59 during the game, and I shook my fist at them. They are so much better than this.

Oh my god are these their new CC unis? To be worn in the stadium where they now feature a statue of a famous segregationist and an all-white lineup?

The people (men) overly concerned about fertility rates are on record as saying that teenage girls don't need to learn algebra and physics. They need to be married and making babies. They're not even trying to hide it.

Texas Rangers' first lineup in front of racist statue is… all-white In their first home game since unveiling a statue with a controversial segregationist past, the Texas Rangers started an all-white, all U.S.-born lineup Friday.

So, um, yeah. #astros #rangers #mlb

Somebody in the Astros’ clubhouse before the 6th.

Same, but I checked the score on my phone and they were only down 6-4, so I turned it back on. Glad I did!

It's working out well as a distraction from the fact that we haven't seen all of the Epstein files and there haven't been any arrests from them. And that was really the point all along.

Karoline Leavitt: "He never said it was an American president."

As a Texan, I wish this was true, but Texas Dems have had the football yanked away from us every year since 2018. The deck is stacked too far against us here. We need voting rights legislation that included an end to partisan gerrymandering and other voter suppression measures.

We're professors. We're parents. HISD students don't deserve AI slop. | Opinion Two Rice professors say that the monstrous faces in an AI-generated lesson on the Harlem Renaissance are symbols of a state takeover gone wrong.

And parents and community members have done a lot to bring the specifics to light as they see the mess their children are bringing home. www.houstonchronicle.com/opinion/outl...

Houston Chronicle has also done pretty extensive reporting on the scripted lesson plans, and also on the three new AI-based campuses that are being rolled out next year.

The claim that "teachers want to use" this curriculum is misleading - the fact is that their yearly evaluations are based on their using it and following it to the letter.

Nearly all Houston ISD campuses will use district-crafted curriculum during 2025-26 school year | Houston Public Media All but five HISD campuses will be using a curriculum crafted by Superintendent Mike Miles’ staff. It's required to be used at the 130 schools that are part of Miles' New Education System.

In Houston ISD, which was taken over by the state and had a new superintendent/dictator forced on it, the answer is yes. AI "writes" most of the required lesson scripts. And they're as awful as you might imagine, and full of errors.
