From this day in 2021: My nephews were curious about Final Fantasy after seeing a Moogle I drew and I described Chocobos as looking "kind of like Big Bird" so then I had to draw it.

It always annoyed me when somebody is telling you about a thing you don't know ANYTHING about, and then they pull the "And you know what happens next, etc?" like they just suddenly expect you to know.

Lol so the game's Trooper Card mechanic you get after a story beat, can let you do this! Theres a few that let you throw fire balls, but one of free DLC ones is kinds styled like a long, fiery Kamehameha Wave!
(4/4) Overall, I enjoyed it, but I was kinda expecting a sort of Kiwami style remake, since this came out just over 2 years ago. It sometimes felt like a PS3/360 era game with QoL improves tacked on, but its still a good time.
(3/4) It was cool to see things of its time, like Edo period versions of the series popular karaoke songs, Buyō Dancing, and 'Courtesan' games 👘😘
If you like history, the game touches upon Japan's period of trade with the western world after ages of isolation. So some learning and some games.
(2/4) Completion metrics aside, the only worse one is the equipment portion, & how grindy it was to make EVERYTHING.
The use of Unreal Engine made some cutscenes have texture pop-ins, but they didn't bother much.
To quote a friend; "Unreal Engine is for a console/PC that doesn't exist yet."
(1/4) At one point, I wished I could play Yakuza 5 for the first time again. I was handed a monkey's paw with this one.
I enjoyed the game for being a Samurai drama, but its completion metrics & using Unreal instead of their inhouse Dragon Engine was a choice 🧵

I like the options that feel more grounded for the game's universe. Though anything that's just gaudy, bright neon, or very obviously a product tie-in can screw off.
But at least those make for easy targets in multiplayer games.
