Considering how often cats defy the laws of physics, I don’t think forensics is going to be the science to catch them.

Whenever depression hit me like a ton of bricks throughout my life, libraries were my solace and the place that could bring me out of crushing darkness. Wandering aisles of books gave me hope. Bringing home a stack of books gave my brain something to do instead of wallowing. Libraries save lives!

I remember questioning whether I was smart enough to go to law school back in my college days and then I got a job in the court clerk’s office and met a lot of lawyers. I quickly realized that I was smarter than a number of them. Tech is just making it easier to spot the bad apples.

Haunting. I couldn’t put it down, nor could I stop thinking about it for days after. So many questions remain. At the same time, I’m not sure the answers would matter.

I have loved Louise Erdrich’s work since I took a women’s lit class in college. I read The Sentence a couple months ago and couldn’t put it down. Her writing is so heartfelt and eye-opening and inspiring with just enough humor to make the characters even more lovable.
