Like when you find the right first move, but the opponents response isn't a forced move, so to come up with the rest of the line of play you have to "predict" what moves the opponent will play in response, and I guess you are just supposed to assume they make the "best move" but then it's 2 puzzles!

Nah, not really. I always overthink puzzles like this. Sometimes a puzzle just has a blunder as the last move played and its trying to get you to learn to capitalize on the blunder. The real problem I have is that on multi-move puzzles I can never properly "predict" the opponent....

Haven't figured out the puzzle yet, but, did Black miss mate on the last move? They did Rh2 but wouldn't Rh1 have been mate? Or am I missing something?

I can't narrow it down to 1 but lately I've been loving "Rocky" from Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. He is so adorable and a fascinating piece of fictional alien life writing. His anatomy is so utterly different from humans but is 100% logical for his non-earth evolution line.
