Grateful for all of the people who have taken the time to reach out and engage on the issues that are affecting our students. I will always do my best, and that includes doing the reading *and* asking the critical questions.

adult bullies in professional/leadership spaces 👎🏾
all of this.
About a decade after Zyahna Bryant, then a 15-year-old, led the push to remove Confederate imagery from Charlottesville, the JSAAHC presented 3 proposals for Swords into Plowshares, a project created to repurpose the bronze from the melted-down statue of Robert E. Lee.

As I rose this morning, three words were on my mind:
Unbought, unbossed, and unshaken. 💚🤞🏾
tonight’s plan:
exhale and watch Dawn Staley’s team go to work! 🥰
3/27/2025, and for some reason this feels especially timely a year later.
I share your sentiments. I appreciate all of the feedback I have received over the past week. I believe that a truly equitable future requires courage from those who are tasked with making decisions.
As always, I hope you are well Professor Mason, and I appreciate your support and wisdom.
Reminders that I’m on the right track.
Fighting for our students’ access to an equitable education is always worth it.
When I send you this, know that it means I’m standing with all ten of my toes on my values.
Inner Shirley checking in. ❤️
In 1964, freedom fighter Fannie Lou Hamer said she was “sick and tired of being sick and tired.”
Same.
And after you cast your ballot, make sure the people you elected follow up on their campaign commitments.

Charlottesville Education Association And we have signed contracts for both our bargaining units!!! ...
I am so proud of the CCS support staff, CEA, the bargaining team, and most of all my wife for all the work that went into making this contract happen.
This was by and for the workers!!! Union Strong!!
Congratulations to the support staff and the CEA! Well deserved.
falling for the status quo is a never-ending trap of complacency.
I would not be where I am today if it wasn’t for him. A few months ago, when I was still campaigning, he looked at me in his living room and said, “you’re going to win. Not just in this, but in everything you do in life. Keep it up, young lady!”
I find joy in knowing that he lived a beautiful life.
I have struggled to find the words to capture my feelings about the passing of my beloved Uncle Marvin. He was the greatest storyteller I’ve ever known, & it was always a joy to sit with him and learn about his experiences as a trailblazer who helped to integrate our schools.
Important things happening in cville. Add this to your calendar. I am looking forward to learning more about these efforts!
something that is bringing me joy:
COLOR! vibrant colors.
The Lord calls upon us to be brave, to be uncomfortable and to see our struggles as interconnected.
there is no rest in the absence of justice.
my God.
My first remarks since being arrested last night.
streaming the inauguration and thinking about being taught by Mr. Salvatierra at Venable Elementary, now Trailblazer. “Oh Shenandoah” is such a beautiful song, and I still remember singing it in chorus. we must protect arts education in our schools.
If you or someone you know is looking for a new role, you won’t want to miss this.
