I have thought this for a while now. More and more MATs are insisting on total silence and only moving when instructed to do so. It's al so unnatural and unrealistic. There are also far too many schools with very minimal playground/school field spaces.

My journey up to Manchester on Saturday went smoothly but my return has been ridiculous. I can't see how it's acceptable or safe to reduce half the capacity knowing full well they won't be able to accommodate people. I'd like to ask for a partial refund. Don't suppose I'll get one though ๐Ÿ™„

Only that 4 carriages had to go back to Newcastle. Downtown an hour stuck in the doorway. Furious. It's not safe.

Rant alert โš ๏ธ I've paid a lot of money to travel on the train from Manchester to Plymouth and Cross Country trains thought it was a good idea to reduce an 8 carriage train to a 4 carriage. So many of us are standing in aisles etc. This is not safe or ok! #CrossCountryTrains #Railways

Took some valuable thinking time today and stepped away from the BERA conf to visit the John Rylands Library. It is absolutely beautiful! Sitting here in this stunning 'historic reading room' planning my upcoming research is an absolute joy #AcademicSky #BERA #Research

Can not recommend this book enough for early career researchers. The content is so accessible and just makes sense! The author is reassuring throughout, which is refreshing.

I think I've turned procrastination into an art form ๐Ÿคฃ. I realised last year that it is primarily due to a fear of failure. Of course my ADHD definitely doesn't help. I'm so much more productive when I'm around others who are working. Good luck with the writing tomorrow!

I saw that on the news and thought what terrible timing for those of you attending the conference from that part of the country. The train has just set off, and I'm meant to get to Manchester at 7pm.

I just messaged you on the BERA conference app. I was hoping to join the writing retreat but couldn't afford it. Conferences get quite expensive. I'd really like to attend a writing retreat sometime though. I've heard they are great spaces.

Thought I'd get some snacks for my long train journey today and found these. I haven't had Pear Drops for years ๐Ÿ˜‹

Hi! I went to the BERA conference last year for the first time and loved it! Definitely exhausting but totally worth it! I'm hoping to get some inspiration and thought provocation for my current research and upcoming PhD. Travelling up from Plymouth so it's a long journey. Do you have far to go?

Excited to be heading up to Manchester today to attend BERA's 50th conference on Monday. It's always so motivating to be with like-minded people and hearing about the latest educational research. Never been to Manchester before so looking forward to exploring tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜Š #EduSky

๐Ÿ˜ก I have no polite words for this fascist and militant ridiculous policy. I'm appalled and very worried.

I agree completely. I totally understand why many PGR students find it a challenge to spend time on campus, but there are so many impactful benefits for all by doing so. Personally, I do my best thinking and work when I'm with others. Academic chatter and companionship are critical for growth.

Sometimes, I think it's quicker to create new after searching for a while. I like the idea of creating a 'library' of sorts...

๐Ÿคฃ surely, this is a joke?

Exactly! They are missing the point completely! They need to be prepared to accept the current education system is doing a lot of harm and getting worse.

So pretty. I like to have flowers in the house from my husband's allotment.

I'm laughing as I read this out loud to my husband because it's very familiar! My husband just rolled his eyes because he knows that is my typical day ๐Ÿ˜œ

**deep, deep sigh** How can the college do that?! It's ridiculous! The damage done by these narrow-minded, thoughtless decisions is far-reaching and so needless!

Thank you!! I'm super excited about it. Hopefully I'll start working with some fab participants this month but schools have so much to do in September that we might not start until October. I'll definitely keep you updated ๐Ÿ˜Š
