I really loved the early pc-gamer demo discs where you took the elevator down and explored their office in a Myst-like interface. It was wild to me that they went to all that effort and had new fmv scenes each month
You're a lot tougher than I am. I'm just doing one class a semester (grad school, need to do 12 total) and even that has been exhausting even with professors that I think have been good or great. It's an online program so my exams have been open book too but the exam anxiety is very real

it sucks. I feel like such an old timey crank when I go on about it but I think the craft matters. When I poked at them, I was not impressed with the code it was creating and even if the code was great, having a strong understanding of it matters and that doesn't happen when you don't write it

I was also painting with somewhat of a broad brush, if someone who really knew what they were doing happened to use it for research, etc, etc, there are edge cases. But given that most of the games I play are small indie games with small code bases, I'd be less inclined to play it
I still won't play games using it because I still value it as a craft, but at least they aren't harming people
I mean, I think web developers could do far better treating coding like a craft instead of slop, but yes, if these companies were out of the equation and we could do this locally without the massive amounts of waste that are basically polluting entire communities, I think I'd be ok with it

I haven't had cable tv in at least a decade now and a downside of that is that my entire time I have been a parent, I have not had TBS/TNT and cannot stand in front of the tv watching whatever dad movie is on at 3pm on a weekend
