So… I was out of video games (kids were younger) for a decade, then Elden Ring came into my life and I became a From Software nut (my two girls watch lol; my wife hates Bloodborne)… and now I’m 48 and back into RPGs
Never thought that would happen…. I just can’t put full saturdays in as if I’m 14

You know that means we are of the age where we should be talking to a dude about colonoscopy exams, right? 😂
BTW, on a $11 sale on Steam I randomly bought Divinity Original Sin 2 in Dec -- now 60 hours in and I feel like I'm a kid again. It's great.
Random buy, and I got deep into RPGs again.
For sure. These were good times. Crazy inventive given the era.
Also just to chime in on the list: Secret of Monkey Island on Amiga/Atari ST should be on any list -- step change in graphic adventures; would allow Maniac Mansion too.
Oh man I remember that one. Lived in Germany at the time and a older kid in town was part of a cracking group, so I was handed a lotta floppies from him.
Truth is, it's kinda SNES or above quality now for me to *really* want to do more than 15 minutes.
I went through a project to restore a C64 and play a bunch of games from childhood, and let me just warn you: your memories of those games are better than the actual experience of playing them.
Mr. Robot
Lode Runner
International Fist
It was rough, even the old joystick felt... dated.
At least it manages to sneak an emdash into every reply to make us smile.
Just got and listened to the ‘54 prestige set last night. That one’s pretty decent and making me wanna check out the ‘55 set.
That’s fair and I hope people do interesting stuff with it — I may be entering my old man phase of life (line of sight to 50!) and have done bbs forums and Usenet and IRC and now looking to reduce “interesting online social experiences” in life and hang with my kids, I guess
A few weeks ago I was bored on a Saturday and thought about building an atmosphere app and… nothing interesting came to mind so I worked on something else. At first I thought that was just a me problem (still may be!)
Fair enough, I’m just wondering about the ratio of bsky users vs atmosphere and wondering if it’s a case of misunderstood or missing value props
What is the value prop of the atmosphere to make it worth engaging with?
A hike around Lake Lagunitas followed by beers and lunch in Fairfax one of the most reliable Saturday mornings around
Enjoy some Metroid!
you even make some good points about creativity in your youtube shorts!
think of these projects like this: we (humans) are still the product managers
do I think what I did at dead.shekar.com is revolutionary? no, of course not! but i had fun, and it was good learning for future other stuff.
do you hear yourself and what a sad sack whiner you sound like, moving goal posts all so you can stay convicted that your take is right?
these are just fun little projects to see what is possible.
also, there's no input in the app on 'what i already listen to', try to keep up, technically
They do now (Tidal still does not, Spotify’s is getting decent, Apple is catching up)…. But I had it before they offered it.
You like waiting for the Spotify product manager, I am my own product manager.
Most of the time I like picking the music I play. Sometimes I like being able to say "chill sunday jazz vibes" without thinking more and getting great tunes.
And the little Mac Mini is a pretty good choice for this w/o spending API token cents.
But can you walk and chew gum?
I just did this on an old 2018 Mac mini last week and it's running llama 3.2b slowly, but running it. Don't think most normies have quite seen yet how simple doing this via ollama is, already today.
Give it another year, and will be common & much better -- and limit LLM pricing power.
In the same way you are.
Kinda? We *still* laugh about a high school buddy storming out of the house losing at Battle Arena Toshinden and my Mom having to check in on him, 30 years later.
Sea Captain would never go woke.
That you think there’s some one sided rock throwing here is insightful why this thread is happening.
The analysis was bad, saying so isn’t an offense, unless you’re trying to control discussion.
The disconnect between the base and the senate is the real story here.
Going about as well as a late night UBRS run with five randos while drunk
It’s fine to not like Newsom — plenty of reasons and wouldn’t begrudge ya. But calling it Starmerism is just being bad at political analysis by focusing on your own narrow chosen issues so you can call anyone anything.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Signed SB 79; which despite his other problems, I’m very glad we have passed.
Thought the Feb $125m investment in basic aid and legal defense for immigrants also pretty decent.
People need to know how important it is, on Fridays, to let the Led out
Reading this as newsom boostering while claiming illiteracy is kind of odd
