By refusing to talk, Iranians have assessed Trump has lost appetite for military war. Evident from his indefinite ceasefire extension, even as CENTCOM signalled it is ready. Economic warfare is a long game + with Hormuz closed, world (+US) will feel pain before Iran does.

Unless there are practical, military concerns, Iranians should meet Vance and the US delegation to push for long-term peace. They still have about 12 hours to make up their mind. #iranwar
Smart move by Iran to quickly reopen Hormuz after Lebanon détente. Makes it more difficult for the US to attack it again after their ceasefire ends and also for Israel to bomb Lebanon.
After 30 years of pushing free-market capitalism, the World Bank finally admits state intervention is a key driver of economic development.. with one warning: don’t copy the chaotic, tariff‑driven model of Trump’s America.
Europe doesn’t want to side with the US, nor Canada, most of LatAm or even Australia. Now even Asia is walking away. Does this not look like the end of the American era, or at least a major pause?

The US blockade, it turns out, is only on ships originating from Iran, not the ones tolled by it. The reason for the walkback could be that oil is back up over $100. Shows it's another reactionary measure taken without thinking it through.
It's tragic that humanity (Americans) travelled farthest from Earth and people barely noticed, let alone celebrated, because Americans choked off the world's oil in a war of choice.
World order is quietly but unmistakably changing after Iran war. NATO refused to join despite threats. Taiwan's belligerence is morphing into conciliation. India which was tacitly backing US/Israel promptly condemned Lebanon attacks.
Talks were bound to fail. Before the war, Iran had agreed to give up uranium and Hormuz was open. But after enduring so much pain, no surprise they are reluctant to relinquish any leverage. US needs to offer meaningful concessions for its ad hoc aggression.
No matter what deal is signed, the only real long-term outcome of this war is Iran definitively proving its leverage over global energy through Hormuz, which it can close again at a day's notice. Even at huge cost, working around it will take 10-20 years. #iranwar
There is a win for Putin in Iran war sure, but Ukraine has also managed its own victories by trading defense assistance for fossil fuels from Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which also points to a new reality – energy dependencies are rewriting modern military alliances.
Don't think even Iran calculated that Hormuz will prove far more effective at forcing a ceasefire than any nuclear program.
Vance's moment to shine, but that's just what Iranians will likely do: play for time and drag this closer to midterms as possible. #iranwar
Risky for Pakistan to take on a mediator role when the two sides are so far apart. Most wouldn't and haven't. Oman/Qatar lost major credibility after last goofup. But will be tremendous if they can pull something off. #iranwar
Polls show Arabs overwhelming support China, Iran and Russia over Israel (most hated) and the US (2nd most hated). No wonder Arab nations have been reluctant to fire back at Iran. #iranwar
Genocide alert.
Between elections, Trump spent 4 years fighting court cases, one ending in criminal indictment; his shield was he could become president again. After this term, not difficult to imagine he'll spend most of his life trying to avoid jail, on his own money and without GOP support.
After six decades of documenting the world, the CIA Factbook has died at the altar of post-truthism.

Sounds more like pleading than a threat.
Fascinating look at how Indian film business is using AI without Hollywood-like guardrails to rewrite classics, create epics and cut production costs. Without safeguards for artists, authenticity or consent, this "efficiency" could destroy cinema.
Media is obsessed with the Trump admin's shifting war aims, which is suprising since it is apparent the real goal was a Venezuela-like oil grab through quick regime change. Everything else is padding. #iranwar
What's the term for not only faltering in your own war but also causing your other enemies to get closer to winning theirs. #Iran

Does going soft on Cuba signal going all in on #Iran?
Shiny pate is the new fate.
Looks like we are headed for a ground invasion of Iran. If US/Israel don't have this locked in a week-10 days, it's a long war. Iran wins by not losing. #iranwar
The only nation that can effectively meditate in the West Asia crisis are not regional states but China which buys 80% of Iranian oil, though inviting it in could further cut the US out from the region. #iranwar
What an inspiring story of political change in Nepal.
Incredible that Iran was at the negotiating table when US started bombing it and 4 weeks, billions in destruction and few thousand lives later, US is the one seeking ceasefire. #iranwar
As Jon Stewart would say: Hormooz is the noose around Trump's neck.
