When Mydei wakes up at entry hour, it’s to thirty texts and ten missed calls, all from Phainon. Bleary eyed, he stares at his teleslate for a long moment before setting it face down on his nightstand once more. He groans into his pillow, lies there for another long moment, and then blindly reaches for his teleslate. A few taps later, he presses it to his ear. “Mydei,” Phainon’s voice says, somehow managing to slur the consonants. “Mydei you… you wouldn’t—woah. Woah. Everything is—is—” A raucous round of laughter drowns out Phainon’s voice. He’s at a bar. Or, rather, he was. This is so annoying. “Mydei,” Phainon says again. “You wouldn’t be… belieeeve—” He stretches the word out like it’s some kind of competition. “Cipher just—Cipher just told me the craziest—it’s so—it’s really, um. It’s crazy. I’m—I’m—” The message stops. Mydei pulls his teleslate from his ear to stare at it and the thirty-second long message. It’s not the first time Cipher has dragged Phainon to an ouzeri to get him blackout drunk.

The Prince and the Dromas
★ Phainon disappears after a night of drinking with Cipher. Mydei, in search of their usual morning spar, goes looking for him only to find a strange dromas instead.

aglaea won't let mydei and his people into okhema unless he proves he can bring her value, but what do you give the woman who apparently has everything🤔

here's hoping mydei finds out before the black tide monsters catch up to him in this reimagining of the legend of lugh!

noticed a weird trend where all the songs i listen to while writing recently can be boiled down to two categories:

- seducing a preacher
- upbeat songs about death

not sure what this says about me as a person tbh

while i plan to take it easy on writing for a little while longer, i hope you'll be patient with me while i attempt to rest ❤️

i'm not sure which will come out first, but i hope to start sharing my art again soon. in the meantime, i'm working on not one but TWO new book projects!

but here's the good news: i'm about a month into a new job, and i'm coming out of the burnout slump. i have 2.5 outlines for longfics i want to tackle - one wrlt, the other 1.5 vrflns

some people create art from pain. i've never been one of those people, so the last few months have been a huge struggle for me

but art isn't production. it's not creation for creation's sake. art is something that comes from the core of who we are, but when who we are is hollowed out by numerous insecurities, art can be much harder to make

as a result, i went from putting out a chapter of a longfic every friday since like 2023 to barely writing at all. that hit to my productivity has felt like a hit to the core of who i am. who am i if i'm not producing?

some of you know i was laid off in september of last year. i'm gonna be real with you: the pressures of being unemployed, plus general burnout (i have got to stop trying to do all 30 days of kinktober), have really fried my creative energy

man i've been writing and rewriting this post all afternoon because i don't want to be too self-indulgent on main, but whatever, we're here now, and we're self-indulgent
