Hi comic creators and readers 👋
How much would you expect to pay for an indie, self published single issue these days? (22-24 pages)
Keep in mind: indies aren’t Marvel or DC - large pubs can afford to charge less due to other revenue they make.
What do you think? 🤔

As a reader I'd have happily paid a fiver. But looking at the other comments and actually thinking about the costs involved, I'd pay £10. So maybe £7.50 would be a good halfway point?
There's probably a lot more of us quietly nervous about everything voted related than the trolls and loud online voices would have the world believe. I think thats a good thing. Quietly getting things done in the real world 🤗🤗
😁😊🤗
I only got mine yesterday, was a bit nervous it wouldnt turn up lol. I'm sure you'll get yours soon xx
Thats my postal vote away for Scotland's election. SNP all the way 🤞🏴
Same.
Also, I don't want to be so overwhelmed by everyday posts of art, the art loses any effect it might have had on me.
I thought I'd show a glimpse of a Thing I did that just got announced. It's for a new Printed in Blood artbook and I cant wait to share the whole painting 😊
I don't want to shoot videos
I don't want to post tutorials
I don't want to show my process
I don't want to pour varnish
I don't want to turn my canvas
I don't want to record my screen
I don't want to cultivate parasocial relationships
I just want to make pictures and shitpost
Wave sketch in oil paint from an outing! Fun to practice what’s basically an exercise in abstraction 🌊 #pleinairpaint #oilpaint
What I find most annoying is, people who enjoy the arts are considered such esteemable elites, so refined. But the people who make the art are considered disposable performing monkeys. And its across the board. All back to front if you ask me.
Artists/creators/performers could use some goddamned intersectionality.
Yep xx
Thank you!

Character sketches to test out a fancy new moleskine sketchbook. I like the smoothness of the paper but it's a but soft. Not sure how it will hold up to paint but we'll see how it does with ballpoint pen. Watch this space...
Auuugh gods 🙄🙄🙄
Sigh xx
Govts: ai companies bullied us so we invested billions and now you must embrace this ai thing we don't know anything about, for all our sakes
🙄🙄🙄
(1/2) Kinda hating that due to social algorithms being broken, it feels like more indie comic creators are moving into content creation (short form video etc)
I know that’s how the world works now, but I have no energy to post regular videos on top of my 9-5 and y’know, actually writing comics.
Its not just you. All the arts are suffering similarly. Social media algorithms are killing us all. Unless we become content creating monkeys, we're doomed to obscurity. And I refuse to pay or play their game so... xx
Its the same here. The art groups are lovely but more suited to wholesome tourist friendly art. I also live in a tiny village. There's public transport but for conventions or exhibitions/shows, a car is essential and I don't drive anymore so I'm pretty isolated.
Getting that way myself. Never was sociable but as a disabled person, growing an online audience was great because I couldnt get to real life situations. But the effort to grow one is more hassle than its worth. Back to quiet it is 🤗
Loved this film 🖤
The end is in sight. Just a few short hours until the Kickstarter for my new robot art book comes to a close. Last chance to join in! www.kickstarter.com/projects/mat...
Portfolio Day again, I might not bother this time, I never get any pick up on followers anyway and all I ever see are accounts with huge follower counts. I like seeing new art and supporting creative people though so will see if I can spot some of the up and coming ones.
I feel like portfolio day and trends are a way for popular people to get gold stars for being good little social media monkeys. In the real world, does any of it matter? I'm not so sure. Happy for them tho, those dopamine hits help with the existential dread xx
