Built my new PC ~10 months ago for $3850.
Today the exact same machine costs $6300.
The RAM alone accounts for $2000 of that difference.

Agreed. If these companies argue that all inputs must be free-use, then all output should also be free-use.
Or taking it a step further - governments could regulate an AI & Automation tax where +90% of these revenues get distributed to everyone whos work serves as inputs. 😂

OpenAI inputs millions of frames of Studio Ghibli art to train their models. OpenAI charges for access to these models and currently makes billions. Studio Ghibli gets nothing in terms of payments or royalties.

Opinions seems mixed on the new Meta Avatars 2.0 on Quest.
I prefer them personally, I think they're a step in the right direction - especially for more realistic environments like ours - but it seems like it's a highly subjective & divisive topic.

Targeted sales on the Meta Quest for events like Black Friday is strange IMO. Devs cant opt out, and it makes marketing much harder if some % of users aren't eligible.
We created a parallel code (BFCM24 -and- BFCM24-458FEE) as a workaround so EVERYONE can use one, but it's clunky and not ideal. 🤔
It's these types of little details that all add up to make a great overall experience IMO. Really great work!

Blender has made incredible progress these past few years - so much that I've been able to abandon Autodesk products I've used for a decade+ without looking back.
Definitely worth supporting their current fundraiser to get 2% of users to contribute towards its continued growth!
