Our study, in the pipeline for years and now out in #JNeurosci, shows that a channel subunit called KChIP4a is a biophysical amplifier of inhibition and controls learning from negative experiences!

Most definitely (and I think it is at least "incomplete"), but that's true of all discoveries. That's somewhat orthogonal to impact, predictive power, and general inspiration for new work.
The RPE hypothesis of dopamine function. Hard to think of a basic theoretical mechanism that had a bigger impact in the field, except maybe the Hodgkin-Huxley model
