and public health. I “do” home dialysis, first and foremost, and at this point, I am 100% certain that DaVita is where I ought to be, whether the world loves it or not. There are parts of industry that can be grating, but there are other parts that are wonderful. I wish all the best!!
I happened to notice your update on LinkedIn a week ago or so. I will tell you this, in the hope that it provides you some comfort: I have wrestled with a lot of feelings as I’ve wandered among academia, device, and dialysis provider(s). The only that matters is using your talent to help science…
One line is not like the others, right? That line summarizes counties in which none of DaVita, Fresenius, US Renal, American Renal, or DCI operate, yet you find a freestanding dialysis unit not owned by a hospital. What might you hypothesize about the cost of living in such places?
Nobody sees the flaw in this analysis, huh?
Meine Großeltern left Österreich (Apetlon, southeast of Neusiedler See) in the late 1940s. The stories of their youth are part of my life, which makes all of what occurred easier for an American child to understand.
Looks like the Pop Tart’s evil cousin.
Much better in MN today, but yesterday was as bad as I've experienced in the past few years of wildfire smoke
Visual Abstract
In patients with myocardial infarction and anemia, a liberal red blood cell transfusion strategy showed no significant difference in quality of life outcomes compared to a restrictive strategy 30 days post-randomization.

1. Smoking is one of the leading causes of preventable deaths worldwide, claiming over 7 million lives each year. #WorldNoTobaccoDay #TobaccoExposed
Fascinating story. Aside from environmental exposures, high temperature and dehydration are posited as a potential culprit.

If it ain’t red, leave it in the shed.
Idiotic public policy. That’s how I really feel. We somehow conflated decriminalization (of possession/use) with safety of use.
Congratulations to our research fellow, Dr. Meghana Eswarappa, for being featured in today's ASN IN the Loop!

If we set aside editorials and perspective articles...
It would be interesting to see what % of RCTs in NEJM and JAMA are industry-sponsored vs NIH-sponsored. I suspect that in those two journals, the former is dominant.
JAMA specialty journals are a different topic, for sure.
As an Ole alum, I feel compelled to tune in and cheer for BC.
In their own words, protesters, police, Gov. Tim Walz and neighbors chronicle the upheaval that shook the city and spread across the globe after George Floyd was murdered. www.startribune.com/george-floyd...
🌍 History made! For the first time, kidney care is on the global health agenda. #WHA78 adopted a landmark resolution recognizing kidney health in the fight against #NCDs.
👏 Thanks to Guatemala and the global kidney community for making this possible!

Aside from turnovers, that was a good quarter.
Maybe it is a priority, though.
It is still a relatively slow-paced and inactive platform. I don’t feel overwhelmed by political takes (largely one-sided though they are), but engagement is not broad-based.
As independent editorials go, this one is nicely constructed and somewhat persuasive.

I use FedEx Office more than any other outfit. I just pick up the poster at the store, so I need not worry about the hotel misplacing it. The price is fine, and more often than not, the location is in the convention center hotel or within a few blocks.
Sad. Payer mix seems to have doomed the operation.

You just need an Xtandi app.
Maybe my knowledge of market dynamics is out of date! My PhD advisor in EpiCH was paid nowhere near $200,000 (and she was hardly inexperienced).
It is amazing that Hardeman’s salary was $206,000. That is substantially higher than many salaries among tenured PhDs in the School of Public Health.
Are two instances of elevated troponin indicative of a really bad MI? 😵💫
