One more week of work then I'm off to Rhodes to read by the pool, swim in the pool, look at the pool, read by the sea, swim in the sea, look at the sea.

An RPG community in Iraq takes their first steps outside D&D Rascal talks to 3 Iraqi players about the good stuff.

“People sometimes feel embarrassed of acting in Arabic, so they try to act in English. I'm trying to encourage them to roleplay in Arabic, but sometimes [even] I feel a little bit shy."

Members of an Iraqi tabletop club discuss growing, teaching, and the oddities of RPG cultural barriers.

This is an excellent rule for storytelling but also implies that Philip Pullman witnessed the death of God as a boy.

Tonight was one of the worst fascist protests we've seen in Aberdeen recently. Completely uncontrolled by police, fascists chased down multiple groups of asylum seekers who were trying to return home. We had to funnel them through our protest area to keep them safe. Which upset the far right.

Poem by Maura Dooley 'The Weighing of the Heart'

Poem by Maura Dooley 'The Weighing of the Heart'

Maura Dooley draws on the Egyptian afterlife ritual in which the dead person’s heart is weighed against a feather to determine moral worth

Her poem is not documentary, but metaphorical

On the scales the weight of accumulated memory & of loss; a weighing of what we carry

I don't want the richest people to be richer, I want life to be better for everyone.

If we have to make the richest people poor to do that.

That's fine with me.
