Arctic seals have regained one of their most important legal protections. A federal appeals court in the US has reinstated nearly 160 million acres of critical habitat for bearded and ringed seals off Alaska’s Arctic coast, reversing a 2024 lower-court ruling. buff.ly/kB0iIYe

In this digital illustration, three baby dragons are sheltered from rain by their gigantic mama dragon. They are on a rooftop in front of a cityscape. The babies gaze up at their mom, smiling.

'tis true! I got into the Warhammer books this year in a major way, because they were less scary than the news.
Me to 3yo: What do you want for your birthday party theme?
3yo: “Poopoo & peepee theme! We can get apple juice for the pee, so a skeleton pees and you drink the skeleton pee but it’s okay because it’s juice”
Me: ..K I was thinking like “dinosaurs” but let’s put a pin in “piss fountain of the dead”
Masks Worn by Magical Wives (in large white letters) by Hiyodori. Cover shows a dark haired woman with a red flower in her hair wearing a white kimono with a red obi/sash.
🪐📚 📚💙 Masks Worn by Magical Wives, by Hiyodori. Probably my favorite book by her so far -- a romantic fantasy with excellent weird world-building and relatable characters. Read my review here: app.thestorygraph.com/reviews/a3da...
A promo image of The Thirteenth Hour by Trudie Skies. It shows the book cover depicting a Victorian woman and man standing before a giant clock, and a banner for the Indie Book Sale at indiebook.sale.
My gaslamp fantasy is!
A very stocky Exmoor Horn ram.
Happy 8th anniversary to the tweet that changed us forever. Look at this absolute unit.
Sad news 😢 I remember really enjoying her Bedlams's Bard series with Mercedes Lackey.
Tell that to my perimenopausal hormones. (No, really. Please do 😩)
Mamma Bison with a calf snuggling .
In the midst of absolute chaos, find some peace.

I love how expressive Lumarets can be 💚
Painting of a bard in a tavern. She is sitting spot lighted from above with a cool toned light. Her hair is purple and she's got a fun saucy pirate like outfit on. In her lap is a guitar made of siren bones that she strums while staring haughtily down her nose at the viewer. In the background a variety of figures dimly lit by torches along the walls observe her performance.
Big Bad Finley. I had so much fun painting her and contributing to her character design! (Sorry to anyone else who then also had to paint that siren bone guitar)
She's in @hitpointpress.bsky.social new book which has two days left on its kickstarter.
Thanks to AD Brian Walters!
A set of screenshots from DEEP SPACE NINE. An old Klingon throws his arms around Dax and shouts "Curzon, my beloved old friend!" Dax returns the hug and says "I'm Jadzia now." The Klingon grabs her shoulders, smiles, and says "Jadzia, my beloved old friend!"
Star Trek figured this out thirty years ago. It's not hard. Even an old, drunk Klingon got it.
Just saw this on the official #StarTrek account and I had forgotten how absolutely great it is. Riker and Guinan give Wes flirting lessons.

Oh wow the gophers were only there for *one day* yet their digging facilitated speedy growth of *40,000* plants! While neighboring areas stayed barren!

Personal Me: this Minneapolis fundraiser has stalled again - it’s run by people I know and I will vouch for them. Boosts appreciated too! www.icehurtsanimalstoomn.org
The Reverse Healer Case Files, by Hiyodori, in BIG white text over a grey cityscape, with a red sunrise and a young woman in a red dress standing in front of it all.
🪐📚 📚💙 The Reverse Healer Case Files (Clem & Wist #2), by Hiyodori was wonderful. Hiyodori excels at characters who are a little broken, more than a bit abrasive, and absolutely wonderful together. There's darkness and healing as they solve a mysterious death or two and deal with a nasty cult.
We have only 61 stories submitted for WHAT ELEGANT STARS so far. I suppose a lot of folks will submit in the last month, but that still seems low. Though the theme is more specific than some previous ones, so folks are less likely to have anything ready to go.

An image promoting an ARC campaign, with the following excerpt from the book Moss'd in Space: “An incinerator?” Torian blanched. “That seems excessive.” “He left me for over one hundred years. All of his belongings should be incinerated.” Torian hesitated. “How about I just recycle them at the next port?” Silence. “You are the captain.” Its tone clearly implied that it both disapproved of this choice, and judged her for it.” Following the excerpt are the words: Moss'd in Space ARC Campaign now live! Form now open! Apply now to March 7, 2026, 10pm MST
I love Moss. It's so ridiculous.
The form to grab an ARC copy is still open until tomorrow night! Apply now for your chance to get an early copy of Moss'd in Space!

Dana at Kamala's Own (kamala.com) is a lovely lady often creates custom perfume oils. She has a shop in Illinois but sells her work online as well
This was one of my favorite reads last year -- I highly recommend picking up a copy!
