Just finished the episode. Really good stuff! I know at the top, you guys discussed episodes go long when you follow the plot. I just wanted to share that I really enjoy and prefer those structured episodes. They don't make sense for all bonus games, but I connect deeply with games covered that way.

Oh to be clear, I think both felt similarly mindless. I wasn't necessarily positioning VS as better. I think they both seemed designed to satisfy the Number Go Up part of the brain. So, I do think Crawlers could be cool, but it didn't hit me as a must-play day 1 title.
I found it interesting how you said VS was a bit too mindless but went on to praise Vampire Crawlers, because "too mindless" was my takeaway from the demo. Even just making you take a card each level up, as opposed to allowing strategy around a lean deck, felt wrong to me.

I'm experiencing most of this with the bloated-to-hell Dragon Quest 1 remake right now as well. It's a franchise my opinion of has mostly 180ed over the last decade or so.
