Film Review: Hell is the Nervous Laughter of Tom Noonan - Charlie Kaufman’s Inscrutable "Anomalisa" - The Arts Fuse Charlie Kaufman crafts worlds where people find love in unlikely places, and lose love so easily you’d think they actually want to be miserable.

So sad to hear Tom Noonan has died at 74. A remarkable, uniquely talented actor. I'm working on a tribute to him, but in the meantime, here's my review of ANOMALISA, in which he performed all of the voices except those done by Jennifer Jason Leigh and David Thewlis.

My review of THE CHORAL, directed by Nicholas Hytner from a screenplay by Alan Bennet. An ambitious story set during WWI, with thrilling music, and a stellar cast including Ralph Fiennes.

The cinematography in H IS FOR HAWK is absolutely gorgeous. DP is Charlotte Bruus Christensen (THE HUNT, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD) with help from wildlife photographer Mark Payne-Gill.
