And if you can’t make either of those work, that’s when the blowing out the knee/fighting like hell comes in.
And all weapons can be taken and used against you.
And side note: can we stop teaching each other to walk with keys between our fingers? It can actually hurt your hand worse than it does damage to an attacker. Also pepper spray can incapacitate you as well, so know how to treat it. Carry on.
One of the most impactful workshops I ever went to was hosted by Leah on this subject.
Journalists: have y'all heard of this? I just got a promo email for it. It comes across like something written by AI with some weird claims and numbers that don't seem to add up. Also, their one image is AI and they sent this to me, a professional photographer. www.moxy.live/journalist
Appreciate you!!

This took like 5 tries to post, apologies.
Eventually the ICE vehicles left the neighborhood, after circling the area or idling a block away for hours. No idea what they were doing.
A day after I took this photo & Thao had been released, we returned & met the family. A few hrs later, ICE vehicles showed up outside of their home again. I returned & stayed with the family as they waited in terror. I was scared to leave, thinking I needed to be there if they came in again.

Editors, listen up!
If they are chasing you go for the knee.
According to an Iraqi official, American freelance journalist Shelly Kittleson has been released by her kidnappers.
FYI he usually takes Marine One to WR.
Egyptians shaved their eyebrows and mourned the death of their cats until they grew back. We have long loved our pet family members.

A lot of writers I know hate writing, but love having written. They hate it, but would never use AI because it’s about doing it yourself.
This week, Shelly Kittleson, an American journalist with deep knowledge and experience reporting in the Middle East, was abducted in Iraq. The culprits must be found and Shelly must be freed. See @pressfreedom.bsky.social reporting to learn more. 👇

This is probably the most subtle photo I took on Saturday. I liked it bc it’s very DC. Ppl who live here get it.
A blooming cherry blossom tree splits a a photograph in half that shows figures sprinkled throughout the scene next to the Washington Monument on the National Mall in Washington, DC. On the left you can spot a person from the No Kings protest standing on a wall, holding a black “F ICE” flag, a child kneels closer to the camera with an adult standing next to them. On the right side of the tree a young man runs with one hand outstretched, trailing an orange kite behind him.
For a short time on Saturday, the No Kings protest, the Blossom Kite Festival and the peak cherry blossom blooms all converged on the National Mall in DC.

Legit.
Called “jay night”. As a kid I never knew what it was, just that all the adults locked themselves in a room and we ran wild with a poor babysitter. It was their monthly air it out meeting. Jay was a mediator who came in and helped them talk thru conflicts.
