I'm sorry Dave, I really need you to agree to these new terms and conditions.

Big news if you’re an American politics political scientist doing text as data
oh sure but when i run across the field naked it's "illegal"
This is a war based on lies
I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.
personally I agree that we should indeed reject the hollow pluralism of pretending that we shouldn't judge Klan, Nazi, and sparkling eugenicist subcultures according to what they have historically produced, and would enthusiastically endorse rejecting inclusion of them in public life
how am I only just learning this stunningly apt word
Looking forward to the open source release, but it sounds like they’re treating model weights as static variables in code rather than data in an ML library, which means the Rust compiler can optimize 1000x better
In the months leading up to the midterm elections, hundreds of accounts have emerged on social media featuring A.I.-generated pro-Trump influencers posting at a rapid pace. Several accounts have already amassed thousands followers. Some of the posts have more than half a million views.
Some colleagues have asked me about Schmidt Science's Humanities AI grant program, which has given significant funding to humanities researchers. They also have an open call for grant apps right now. This is a great funding opp for humanists; some thoughts: www.schmidtsciences.org/humanities-a...
Knowledge graphs are transforming my research methodology. Claude Code allows me to build knowledge graphs as I take notes from primary sources.

Republican leaders rushed a 2 AM vote to let the government spy on Americans without a warrant.
It’s good they failed.
Americans are rightfully afraid of government overreach. We need to prioritize protecting their personal data & not force bills through in the dark of night.

More perfect union: BREAKING: The Senate just passed the legislation allowing the devastation of the Boundary Waters. The motion passed 50-49, and now goes to Donald Trump’s desk.
Republicans just handed the Boundary Waters to a foreign corporation.
For the GOP, it’s foreign billionaires first, America last.
An image showing two YouTube embeds. One labeled "Section 230 Explained: A brief overview of Section 230 and why it matters" and the other saying "The Future of Content Moderation: Keynote on the challenges facing platforms." Both videos show "video unavailable" with a "watch on YouTube" link.
CLAUDE CODE JUST RICKROLLED ME. I'm working on a project where part of it will involve videos, and in building out the project it created a dummy page, with made up content (relevant to me!) with two video links pretending to be something else and BOTH WERE RICKROLLs.
Reptiles of a scale? (e.g. Anklyosaurs?) Hm. 🤔
Birds of a feather, so to speak? 😁
Pterosaurs are not dinosaurs. *ducks*
(They are my favorites on this list, we have a couple of specimens here in the Field.)
And no Archaeopteryx? Hm. 🦖 🦕 🦖 🦕

Seems increasingly likely that the humanities will specialize in an approach to culture that requires in-person presence and revels in the physicality of paper &c.
Not the main thing I do, but—it seems healthy? Likely good to have a space free of screens. Also it’s not bad to take pride
DOJ Rapid Response • O @DOJRR47 X.com Yesterday the Department of Justice filed a motion to vacate the convictions of several Americans who had received clemency from President Trump. This ends these years-long, Biden-era weaponized prosecutions. President Trump demanded we stop the two-tiered injustice—and we are delivering. No more rigged system. 1:32 PM • 4/15/26 • 6.7K Views
The individuals referenced here are adjudicated terrorists.
They were found guilty of conspiring to use force against their own government to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
A conservative, Trump-appointed judge applied terrorism enhancements to their sentences.
These are adjudged terrorists.
I have never studied the mss seriously, but my initial thought looking at the script was that this was a version of a spoken language with lots of extra "syllables" (infixes?) thrown in for effect but not nec. reflecting anything semantic. Not sure how to isolate the signal from the noise though.
Pretty bummed about how 2/3 of our class uses X. Instagram was the winner, TikTok up there. Zero students on BlueSky.
The longer I spend in digital humanities, the more I am obsessively drawn to analog technologies and convinced we must actively and intently teach them or the digital world loses its color, texture, and depth.
