The Canadien's game against the Lightning went on for too long because of the fisticuffs. Wrong team won, too.

Yes, Doug Ford, Quebec bought private jets — but not for the premier's travels | CBC News Last week, Ontario’s premier pointed to a fleet of Quebec government-owned planes as justification for having his own private aircraft. But Quebec’s premier has no such private plane. We got to the bo...

The CP of Ontario says, "Oh, no, this isn't about privatization." Why would we believe them?

When asked about underfunding healthcare Ford points out the billions they spend building hospitals which benefit developers, builders and private sector unionized workers. More nurses and support workers would benefit public sector unionized workers but that's not where he's spending. Coincidence?

If we don't have a national broadcaster (like more developped countries have, I believe), then we'll have only commercial networks owned by U.S. conglomerates, with no responsibility to the public, very little mandate to produce Canadian content, and a tendency to erode professional news.

Let's pay less attention to what he says and tweets, and more attention to what Murrica actually *does*. All this insane distraction is veiling the evil actions of Project 2025 and other neo-feudalists.

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

Ontario gov will now sell Air Ford One. "As soon as possible" Dougie says. When is that? I bet he'll sell it at a loss, *our* loss. There will be another destructive boondoggle soon!
He pretends to be Cap't Canada, but he's MAGA to the core. More corruption, privatisation, de-democratisation coming.

Horrors will continue worse and worse, as Orange Dictator now understands he can't run again. His only pleasure: seeing how much cruelty and destruction he can create. Now he has the whole world as his power theatre. GOP will only try to stop him once they know their own seats are at risk. Too late?

First, we were called citizens. Then we were merely consumers. Now we are prey, extorted by commerce monopolies, exploited by deregulated oligarchies, abandoned by crony-corrupted governments, disconnected from each other by algorithms who steal our data.

This is Achrioptera manga, a giant phasmid or stick insect native to Madagascar.

The specific epithet, "manga" means blue in Malagasy & it's not hard to see why. Only males are blue.

The tiny back wings ("alae") are an example of brachyptery: they're useless for flight, but have other functions.

The world could soon be completely controlled by men without conscience who experience no consequences to their monstrous actions. Yes, no conscience and no consequence leads to power and riches.

No, it’s not a painting—these surreal skies are real! This is a rare ‘fire rainbow’ spotted over the Rocky Mountains, created when sunlight hits ice-crystal clouds at just the right angle. Seeing a fire rainbow requires extreme luck.

I just finished "A Sociopath's Guide to a Successful Marriage" by M.K Oliver and it's the funniest book I've read in a long time.

Can't happen. Because of the division of powers i.e. federal vs. provincial it would require amendments to the constitution and that's a none starter. There'd have to be some of sort of formal relationship.

Art, sex, nature: why is everything sold to us as a means to an end, rather than an end in itself? How a reductive worldview is stripping meaning from our most valued activities

Has anyone else noticed that religious crazies are high up in the decision making of all 3 counties in the present conflict: the U.S., Israel and Iran? If ever there was an argument for secularism in govt., this is it.
