Not enjoying being an informed citizen lately!
A long-haired tortoiseshell cat sprawling at the top of a flight of stairs, front paws outstretched, wearing an expression that says "excuse me, I'm busy being beautiful"
A group of large picture books, including one about images of Black people in the history of American art, two about the Civil Rights movement written for children ages 6-10, and also some books about the history of children's books (and randomly, also a biography of Bolivar)
A group of various nonfiction books, including five volumes of Joseph Campbell's Historical Atlas of Mythology, several books on the history of science, some Civil War histories and one about world war two, a book about Flannery O'Connor, and more
Fiction! Mystery novels, fantasy (including House on the Cerulean Sea), some classics like Narrow Road to the Interior by Basho, Ishiguro's Remains of the Day, and a book of William Blake's poetry; there's also an old novel with a very Margaret Armstrong cover design (note to self, check whether it is hers)
I keep forgetting to post NEW ARRIVALS!

A cropped screenshot from a Canadian government website with the prompt "What's your occupation?" The answer "Writer" has been provided, generating the red text error response "Please enter a valid occupation."
Almost a year now since I received this absolutely classic burn from the Canadian government.
It's giving V for Vendetta and McCarthyism
Swatch card for the botanic tile pattern I created for author Idris Grey. Swatch card is a rectangle with the title and stamp logo on the lower right side. Inside the frame is the pattern large scale. The swatch card is on top of the pattern at a smaller scale. Pattern is in tones of muted deep lavender, dark navy, warm blue and creamy beige taupe. The pattern is a mosaics of tiles in alternating colours with vignettes of abstract botanics and fruit illustrations. Fruit illustrations include a pear, a strawberry, a pair of cherries and a pair of peaches. The botanic abstracts are symmetrical and inspired by tin tile ceilings and florals including daisies.

This would be so gorgeous on a special edition hardcover!
Swatch card for the repeat pattern I created for author Idris Grey. Pattern is a dark warm navy blue with botanics on top organized in spot groups that interlace diagonally with each other. Botanics are of long stem stylized tulips, large symmetrical wild daisies and various green branches and leaves. Interlaced with the botanics are various fruits including cherries, a pear split in half, citrus wedges whole and cut strawberries. The fruit and botanics are in flat colour shades light muted robins egg and warm very light pale purple. Speckled throughout are some large dots in the same pale purple. Swatch card contains a large scale of the pattern framed with the title and the babe and oak logo on top of a square of the pattern in a smaller scale.

I try to focus this account so it's for my readers, but hey writers:
NEVER sign a contract where the publisher keeps your rights indefinitely. For short stories, there should be a point when you can sell reprints.
and NEVER sign your movie/TV/etc adaptation rights to a publisher. Those are yours.
There was some lady who I swear said that this dude was in bed with Project 2025. Everybody said she was fearmongering though. What was her name...? Not Cassandra but it’s close.
First they came for James Comey and I said, "Huh, ironic... But still very bad."
Really getting hoist by his own petard.
Not I, said the cat!

Fun fact: Doctor Oz, Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, close friend of Trump and RFK Jr., and self-admitted fraudulent supplement huckster, sells multiple forms of leucovorin through his supplement company, iHerb, which he didn’t divest when taking his federal gov role.
If you didn’t know, Mehmet Oz has a financial stake in the company iHerb which sells: folinic acid supplements (folinic acid = leucovorin)
The lies about Tylenol, autism, and this “treatment” are ALL part of their grift.
Anyway, don't give your child an unproven autism "cure" sold by a snake oil salesman. Stop trying to fix your autistic children. They aren't broken.
This democratic republic is so flambéed

You can "honor" Kirk's memory by doing the thing he'd hate and donating to an organization that wants to help low-income trans adults receive gender affirming care:
