Science Without Papers: Adaptive Knowledge Network for Structured Scientific Communication Papers no longer match the way science actually unfolds. We publish more than anyone can read.

What about replacing papers with a living network of claims, evidence, methods, and open questions, each with stated scope and assumptions, connected by typed links?

Here is a starting point for discussion.

Critical feedback matters as much as endorsement.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Was the UK’s strategy the optimal one?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, public health authorities had to make swift decisions and chose whether to delay booster doses. Read more about the optimal timing of doses when resources are scarce here:

Quante storie da scrivere prima di diventare Scienza | il manifesto (Editoriale) C’è la Scienza. E poi c’è la scienza, con la minuscola. La prima ci affascina perché rappresenta il limite ultimo della nostra conoscenza e, a volte, come ogni frontiera, mette paura. La ...

La scienza è un cammino. Non è lineare, non è prevedibile, e riguarda tutti noi.

I never knew what it was. But that curiosity that remained suspended will remain another thread in the fabric of memories I carry with me.
His loss is immense. But so is the legacy he leaves.

In the last meetings, he had mentioned that he had something for me — something that, he said, I would be happy to receive. When I later wrote to send him this photo, I also asked him about that mysterious gift. He replied that he was still looking for it, adding, “research takes time.”

I took this photo of him and Y.-C. Zhang during a walk through the ancient ruins of Rome, the day we were celebrating the Nobel Prize to Giorgio Parisi, in 2021. Joy, science, friendship, everything was intertwined in that moment.

He had a rare ability to combine depth and clarity, rigor and creativity. His teachings continue to guide me, and his kindness, his discreet humor and his generosity have left a lasting impression.

I have just learned with immense sadness of the passing of my thesis supervisor, Francesco Guerra. He was a brilliant physicist and an extraordinary mentor. I had the privilege of working with him during my thesis on spin glasses during a period that marked me deeply, both scientifically and humanly.
