Are the fuel protestors right - should Ireland drill for oil? Various bodies have previously estimated that there could be billions of barrels worth of the black stuff buried in the Irish seabed.

'He said a ban on exploration and drilling, introduced in 2021, should be lifted “for the good of the nation”.'

What about the good of the planet? The people? He's either a moron or a scumbag. Pick your poison - his is oil

TL;DR: NO THEY'RE FUCKING NOT

Ep 13 - The Iniskea Prospect Should Ireland leave all its oil and gas reserves in the ground or drill to achieve energy independence?

The suggestion that Ireland should reverse the ban on drilling for oil and gas has popped up again.
I made a programme looking at this from every imaginable angle.

Listen: 👉 www.rte.ie/radio/radio1...

Spoiler alert: The arguments for drilling don’t add up.

It has been six years since the Gender Autonomy Act was passed in Iceland. In those six years, none of the usual fears that anti-trans advocates warn against have manifested - and trans people, non-binary people and intersex people have enjoyed increased rights and protections.

Looking at this thing of beauty! Render by Billy Ramsell is a PBS recommendation and one of the most inventive and original collections I've read. Get your pre-orders in!

Billy's new book is superb. Highly recommended. Go buy it! You'll be supporting one of Ireland's great small press publishers and Cork's greatest living poet (and someone who genuinely happens to be among the great raconteurs of this world). It's a twofer.

Ever wonder why most of the media provide wall-to-wall coverage of everything the far right does or says, while ignoring far bigger rallies and events and far more interesting discussions elsewhere on the political spectrum?
There's no mystery. It's because they want the far right to triumph.

The underlying message of trans girls being banned from guides for "safeguard" reasons is that only segregation can keep women and girls safe from "biological men" and it must start in childhood. It's such puritan regression from ideas on deconstructing rape culture, toxic masculinity and #MeToo

Step two: steal their art
Step three: charge them entry to see it

This. After the Ballinrobe parade float debacle, I saw lots of men saying 'at least it keeps Epstein in the news'. When I said to one, an elderly man hugging his grandson in his profiler, that a parade float with men simulating rape isn't the way to do this, he told me I was too ugly to be raped. ✨️

This ruling is so grim and unkind. I don't really understand why guides/scouts are segregated in any case. It's retrograde and weird and this ruling just furthers that.
