I agree that there were some nods toward things in 28 Days Later, but they were definitely just nods imho. They didn’t really build on them.

Just watched 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and this holds true there as well. Going from “what if zombies were fast” to commentary on trauma and what it means to be human. Wow. A+ shift, honestly.

a man with a mullet and a mustache is standing in front of a picture . Alt: Matt Stone playing a porno film tech in the movie Orgazmo—with a mullet and a mustache—inclining his head knowingly after making a statement that may or may not be ”queer” in nature.

I don’t want to sound like a queer or nothin’, but I think 28 Years Later is better than 28 Days Later.

Gotta say, big retail chains closing for Easter feels pretty performative when my local Mexican grocery store and local coop stayed open.

Zojirushi is the elephant in the room when it comes to good rice—vaginal stenosis or no.

Just watched 28 Days Later for the first time in years, and the most grounded part is that a group of isolated straight men will somehow fail to figure out that gay sex exists and will resort to elaborate plots to rape women instead.

Me: Ouch. Owie. Ow.
Ibuprofen: Well now don’t you worry your little head about that, miss.
Me: You’ll fix it?
Ibuprofen: No, but I’ll make you forget about it for a few hours.
Me: I love you more than my children.

They Pay $34 for Burgers. Should Their Child Care Be Free?

yes you fucking morons free preschool for everyone or it becomes just "free preschool for the poors" and then you call them leeches and ask for tax breaks when really we want free preschool for everyone because we want smart well adjusted kids why is this so hard?

I think we should all agree that certain jokes are Hedbergian, even if Mitch Hedberg didn’t write them.

Ex: “Hobby Lobby is great for hobby supplies—but not if your hobby is lobbies. Then, you are out of luck. Hobby Lobby doesn’t stock lobby hobby supplies.”

True story: James Madison’s final public act was to warn the 1829 Virginia convention that if they allowed white men who didn’t own property to vote, that they’d all vote to tax rich slaveholders until they were forced to free the people they enslaved.

Just in case you thought any of this was new.

It’s a good thing boxer puppies are cute, because they’re also jerks. I forgot what it’s like to manage a puppy without an older dog helping out (and taking the puppy teeth for the team).

It’s required, actually.

Did you ever stop to think about how you were actually the problem for not understanding their communication needs, and it’s actually pretty problematic that you’d shame them for having a strong emotional response? /s

The Supreme Court did not strike down conversion therapy bans today.

Not nationwide. Not in Colorado. Not anywhere.

Here's what actually happened in Chiles v. Salazar—and why the coverage you're seeing serves the conservative legal movement more than it serves you.

I’m not supposed to share this, but the Minnesota Cargo Bike Library is branching out into e-motos in order to attract a younger, hipper audience instead of all these crunchy moms, bike dads, and queerdos.

AI, Journalism, and Human Thought/Expression: The Racket Editorial Take - Racket TL;DR: Racket will remain a proudly AI-free shop. Here's why.

Nobody asked, but here's our position.

Crunchy hipsterism in the form of a moleskine is always valid.

That’s what I’ve done in the past. This year I thought for sure someone would have found a way to improve on it. But… 😅

Anyone have a favorite garden planner app that’s *not* a monthly subscription? Enshittification coming to “growing your own food” is such a bummer when I’m basically just asking for a fancy spreadsheet.

If only! Neither insurance nor the surgery center believes they did anything wrong. Someone with insurance said they would follow up to verify info with the center again because the person we spoke to wasn’t helpful at all. So 🤞🏻

I’ve gotten a bill from the surgery center. Insurance lists the claim as fully processed, EOB is due April 8th.

I seem to have stumbled into a unique situation where my surgeon was in-network, and listed as in-network at the address of the surgery center, but the center wasn't? And, the center seems to have 20 different NPI IDs. Insurance said prior auth was not necessary. No one mentioned "out of network." 🙃

The year is 2026. Your morning is spent strategizing with an AI assistant how to appeal an insurance claim that processed "out of network," and your afternoon on the phone talking about different NPI IDs with the billing department. There is no resolution, and no one knows what "Kafkaesque" means.

$100 (technically $114) for a 50’ garden hose is a lot. Do you have an example that’s even more expensive?

Honestly, anything with rye in it.

The last few years have also had a ton of one-offs that should have become staples. Any oak aged lager from Modist other than “The Time is Nigh” (which is released seasonally). Also, I haven’t seen Sunken City from Insight in ages.

Also, there are lots of other great books! More than anyone could possibly have time to read! And a good few of those are not written by bigots who are still alive to benefit from their popularity!

Harry Potter was my favorite book series as a kid. I ordered the UK editions before they were available in the US, and I even wrote to Joanne to tell her how much I loved her books. But, I’m a grown woman now and I understand the harm involved in giving Joanne money/attention. So, I don’t. Easy.
