My Skyscanner notification this morning told me flights had gone up from £591 to £727 (for 2). Obviously lots more taking the plunge

That'll be the Pedigree Petfood plant - my father-in-law used to work there. I always feel like I rescued my wife from the Fens, I'm quite happy not to need to go back there ever again now that her mum is no longer with us

Good luck - I tried that last year to avoid engineering works between St Pancras & Luton, driver's cab was flooded so ended up standing all the way to Tamworth, then again to Nottingham as WCML was chaotic. Didn't even get to the football as the game was moved after I bought the train tickets

I'm gutted - had really built myself up to go with my daughter (and have a couple of days in Berlin if we didn't make the final) but finally decided I couldn't justify £1k for a football match. FA Cup final was the pinnacle for me, everything else is just a bonus.

So sorry to hear this Matt. I lost my dad 19 years ago, and wish I had the shared experience of Palace like you did, but sadly he couldn't stand football. We had other experiences obviously, but none that provide the sheer emotion that football can provide

I've come to the conclusion that I really can't justify it - £1k for flights, hotels, food, drink & train is just far too much for a football match (and that's before match tickets). Hopefully they'll have it on the big screen at Selhurst so we can share it with other Palace fans

They made a far better fist of it today than normal - we're usually lucky to get one ball on the target, and that's normally only 10 points

The one we had in Ifield would only take Dec & Jan off, must have been the most optimistic ice cream man in the world

That's how much my day return from Billingshurst to Croydon costs (but only if I wait till the 8:30 train, otherwise it's £28!)

Mine too, but sadly only on TV (and I missed the first 15 mins)

But how stupid are the people who believe it? No one can even enter the House of Commons (except the public gallery) unless they are an MP, let alone speak at the despatch box (which I think is front bench MPs only)

Trying to imagine what part he would have played (or would he have taken Wilson Pickett's role?)

Is she still knocking around? She was still a chip shop owner just breaking into politics when I was in Brisbane in 96-97

I hope they've put a relegation clause in, because otherwise it's going to be bloody expensive to sack him when they go down 🤞

Airports aren't always a ripoff - I got a decent size (and very tasty) pizza & drink for about £4 in Johannesburg last year

I don't think there is any question that the US hit a school - it's been pretty well documented, not leftist propaganda. There was also a volleyball tournament that was hit elsewhere. It's like they didn't learn anything from the Blitz in WWII - it made us more determined to fight back, not less

Not at all - if the US wanted regime change in Iran via a public uprising then bombing schools is not the best way to do it! And their nuclear programme was basically halted under the Obama-era treaty that Trump tore up, and negotiations were going well right up to the start of bombing.

If you fly into Gatwick there is one literally opposite the arrivals doors - very much "welcome to the UK"

They're going to have to go quite a long way round if they can't overfly much of western Europe. Shame we didn't have the balls to stand up to them too

Went in the Green Dragon at the top of Surrey Street the other day, seemed quite nice in there (though having sampled the Tzatziki beer I don't think I'll be having it again!)
