The forest under other circumstances would have would have been a familiar comfort, a place where he would vanish for a few hours away from the wrath of his father for a slipped sword or a stumble in training.

The sound of songbirds and the wind through the leaves, the creaking of the trees as in conversation with each other was akin to a long lost embrace from his late mother.

The river babbling to herself as though the great Calypso may emerge any moment with words of wisdom and courage, or to send him on his own great deed with purpose like his kin before him.

Stede often dreamed of the great lays of generations past, his ancestors, the great Men of the House of Bonnet, fighting bravely alongside Elven Pirate Princes and warriors against the Dark Lord Banes. Those who had been felled in battle were remembered reverently akin to princes themselves.

Then came Stede. Far less impressive. Stede loved music, poetry, and all manners of flora and fauna, and could name all he saw around him by the age of ten. He was less adept at combat, strategy, and struggled with maps. All of these were ill welcomed traits in the heir to the mighty House of Bonnet.

Though of course, this no longer held any importance. They were all dead. All slain at the hands of the Dark Lord Banes' servants. Bodies laid mangled where they were cut down, and all homes were set alight. No one had been spared, not even the little ones. And Stede had ran.

Those sounds of the forest he oft found a comfort now changed to distant cries and roars of the enemy, as he flew with as much speed as he could muster through the trees, not caring as he felt thorns and twigs bite his arms and legs.

After a time, how long he was unsure, though he could no longer hear anything but the rush of his own feet, he caught a large root and hit the floor with a crash.

Exhausted, for a while he just lay there. All dead. All of them. His sword master Roger who always berated him and never smiled. The cook Mary, who had slipped him extra cake when she found him crying in the pantry. All the people he grew up with, all those who had been to battle and survived. His father who had hated him.

Stede curled up in the mud and leaves and wept.

UKIP tried to march in Liverpool on Saturday under the guise of 'walk with Jesus'. They were shown what community looks like and made it about 10 steps before being surrounded and stuck in place for hours, before being escorted by police back to the train station. LIVERPOOL IS ANTI-FASCIST ❤️💪
