*scraps work on This Means War, begins work on amazing new D&D campaign*

It is perhaps no accident that one-three-seven-nine is twenty.
So one bad-ass hobbit could wear ALL the major rings on fingers and toes………
Children are great because they can help you see things in a whole new way. Like how my 7yo just told me he thought Lord of the Rings is probably about Bilbo trying to get a bunch of rings.
This week on The Coffin Club: welcome to the run-up of our @salvageunion.bsky.social campaign! For the next three weeks we're doing table setting, starting with a game of Follow by @lamemage.com ! One prison, many conspirators, one goal: overthrow and escape.

The prompt today was ekphrasis.
It felt like the perfect time to write my first poem about the shared world we created during a game of Microscope on the Clarion West ‘25 Discord.
Happy Birthday Roooobuttttt
Of course the super-leaping might have distracted everyone. Most romances don't have that much jumping… but they could!
They even called it "planetary romance". The romance was right there in the label!
Child-inspired brainstorm:
What about a sister game to Downfall, which is about another society that the failing society's pieces are raining down on, so to speak?
I'm not ripped from the headlines, you're ripped from the headlines!
This is the unvarnished feedback every game designer needs
Have you told him about summerlab???
omg the best
I played 5 sessions of This Means War in 12 days.
Not quite every other day but real close
Starting another war tonight, because the only good war is a game war…

The Microscope Chronicle is coming from inside the house…
I am so happy for you!!!
You can really feel the Bilbo burns at the party in this reading. A+
Nope, just a single reader, unabridged. Totally different! And fantastic.
I listened to those at one point (years ago) and honestly they kind of drove me nuts. But I had already listened to Inglis so I was probably pretty biased.
That totally counts! 😆
How many of you had heard of Rob Inglis or these Lord of the Rings recordings before now?
I'm genuinely curious. They're from over 30 years ago, before the movies, so they practically feel like lost media.
After 10 games of THIS MEANS WAR, I can finally say: this weird experiment actually works.
Next step is preparing the public playtest.
And yep, those recordings are over 30 years old. They've been waiting for you all this time…
Hail, fair bird!
If you love some Lord of the Rings, I have a treasure for you: Rob Inglis, the best Tolkien-reader to ever walk the earth, Middle- or otherwise
And if you've never read Tolkien because it seemed a little intimidating, this is a great way to start

Yeah, you're going to think this is an article about watches but it really is about a lot more
"Go where interesting problems are, and you'll probably find that other smart and ambitious people have turned up there too. And later they'll look back on what you did together and call it a golden age."
paulgraham.com/brandage.html
"The way to find golden ages is not to go looking for them. The way to find them — the way almost all their participants have found them historically — is by following interesting problems. If you're smart and ambitious and honest with yourself, there's no better guide than your taste in problems."
Never go to sleep. It might break the spell. That's my method.
#NoKings protest today!
It's cold but people are out representing!
This unbridled joy was brought to you by two different playtests of THIS MEANS WAR, back to back
I’m really enjoying seeing the 'waracle' drop events that perfectly curve our story, and everyone going "omg!!!" in incredulous joy. And then immediately picking up the ball and running with it
