Three tiny needle felted flat caps, they've been felted so that they look like they have a tweed-esque pattern, two hats are mostly purple-ish with brighter threads visible, and then the one in the middle is a burgundy with a bright green, navy and cream pattern overlaid on top of it.
Every time I start to doomscroll, I felt a tiny hat

My award-winning comic BRAINS is back in stock at Radiator Comics, you can snag a copy for $15. It's 40 pages of colorfully illustrated ruminations on the brain, cognition, thinking, perceiving and BEING human in the face of all this so-called AI garbage.
Brains... I just think they're neat!

It's long out of print, but long ago, before there was @xplainthexmen.bsky.social, @gjallerbru.bsky.social and I made a zine about The Adventures of Pete and Pete, which I have stuck online, should you want to beat up the ocean with us: edidin.wordpress.com/wp-content/u...

I use different materials for each 'resist' (the material you felt 'against', sometimes it's just felting wool, other times you felt into something or against something to create a specific shape) of the different colors of wool to give them different textural feels/looks

Getting back to work on this, I had to take a break from it while I prepared for a bunch of shows I'm doing, but I'm feeling the pull to start drawing it again which is always exciting.

A short sleeved sequinned dress with high collar. It is bright yellow and has a silk satin belt cinching the waist
Another big name in fashion lore was born on this day in 1900 and that was Norman Norell. Amongst his many striking designs, one of his most recognisable was his mermaid dresses, silk jersey covered entirely in sequins. Here an early #1960s version in bright yellow #museumatFIT #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

Here's an example of one of the more 'collage' style pieces, I made a pond surface as part of my table display for one of the shows I did

There are also aspects of collage with the way that I do some of the felting, with different materials and the way that I layer some of the felt pieces. I've also made little "plaid" and "tweed" patterns using one or two strands of the wool and painstakingly layered each one to create the pattern.

I've been felting for about a year and a half, maybe a little less, but it combines aspects of so many of the crafts I know how to do already in a way that makes me like some of them more (sewing, for one, I've been enjoying using some of those skills for the assemblage of some of the felt pieces)

The first panel shows a crow with the title "How to live a good life". The second panel shows a crow cawing at itself in the mirror with the subheading "Make friends". The next panel says "Explore" and shows a crow looking into a commercial waste bin. The next says "Try new things" with a crow eating something vile. The next one says "Be curious" and shows the crow grabbing a hissing cat's tail". The final frame says "Get a hobby" and shows the crow looking closely at a book of matches.

BRAINS by Alexandra Gallant-Lee
A love letter to the brain and hate mail to AI
It's also available for $5 through itch and if you get the PDF, you can share it with a friend and then 2 (or more!) brains get to read it for the price of 1, what a deal.

Poster for CAKE (Chicago Alternative Comics Expo) - A weekend long celebration and marketplace of independent comics
Poster features a wonderful illustration by Bianca Xunise of a delightful comics rat wearing a bunch of badges that say the details of the show like that it's at the Irish American Heritage Center May 2nd and 3rd, admission is free and masks are strongly encouraged!
Special guests: Jamila Rowser, Steenz, Abby Kacen, Jim Terry, Ashley Robin Franklin, Gabriel Mason Howell and Jeremy Tinder
A bunch of felted frogs in various shapes and sizes, including one that's almost entirely engulfed by the little sweater I crocheted for him
I am getting excited for my trip to CHICAGO for CAKE!!! I can't wait to visit Chicago for the first time, I'm very excited - I will be at table 506B with Frogby cakechicago.com May 2nd & 3rd!

A bright yellow kiosk stands in stark contrast to the background.
A vintage photo showing two people at a beach kiosk
One of my favorite Yugoslav designs is the K67 modular kiosk. Injection molded modular plastic building often used for newspaper vendors, coffee shops and info kiosks. Could be linked together like legos. www.archpaper.com/2023/01/univ...
