SB 1 continues to wreak havoc in Ohio's public universities. This time SB 1 is forcing @ohiouniversity.bsky.social to close it's bachelor’s of music therapy.
“Without our program, there’s kind of a huge hole in southeast Ohio that just isn’t going to get served. And that saddens us quite a bit.”
A graphic with Zydeco’s photo and full quote: “Our libraries have been serving the community for 152 years, operating off of the motto 'Open to All,’ and we've implemented that in everything we do by providing essential services to everyone who comes through our doors. In order to keep helping our communities to the best of our abilities, we need to protect and support our library workers by securing safe levels of staffing and worker input on library policies.” The graphic also has the CML United logo, which includes an illustration of two people, with different skin tones, holding a book, and the words, "CML United. Open to All."

"[CML management] has had power for over 150 years. They don't want to give it up. And they know that we can win. And they're afraid of that."

Why are @columbuslibrary.bsky.social workers organizing their union & standing up to management's anti-union campaign?
“All CML workers deserve protection and the ability to receive equitable and equal treatment in all aspects of the organization.”

Hey Columbus folks, let's support our library workers. They deserve.
Columbus, Ohio has one of the best public library systems in the country. It's one of the absolute best things about this city.
But its management is engaging in union-busting and they need to be stopped. matternews.org/community/wo...
CML is trying to stop workers from forming their union.
Tell them to knock it off:
“I think a lot of people would expect @columbuslibrary.bsky.social … to be a little bit more progressive in how they’re handling their workers unionizing,” but instead CML is engaging in “intimidation, misinformation, [and] coercing employees to not support the union.”
An Unfair Labor Practice Charge filed last week alleges that the recent termination of a CML employee was “unlawful and retaliatory,” motivated by the worker’s involvement in union organizing.

“Ohio’s public schools rank in the bottom third nationally, and the only way to turn that around is if we actually send people to Columbus who understand how to fully and fairly fund public schools.” — State Rep. Dani Isaacsohn
Minnesota has demonstrated compassion for our neighbors, courage in the face of brutality, and solidarity by standing together. We stand in solidarity with Minnesotans in demanding Target stand up to ICE—that's why AFT has resolved that our members will shop elsewhere for back-to-school this year.
Thank you Sandy and Julie! We're out in the streets today to stand up for our students and our democracy.
