So I finally watched all of Apple TV’s Smoke. Was thinking, wow, this is really good. Then the ridiculous twist in the second to last episode derailed it for me. Too bad because the acting is terrific. Anybody else feel the same?

The real reason nobody looks up from their phone on the subway in Toronto. You might look up and see someone picking their nose, like I just did. #TTC
Also butter tarts. Let’s ruin butter tarts with raisins.
Wanted: fans of the Rocky Horror Picture Show who would have gone to the Roxy in Toronto in the ‘70s. Email me at dyeo@thestar.ca for a Toronto Star story.
Just came back from Stratford ON whose theatre festival is spoofed in the great show Slings & Arrows. Did a double take when I saw actor Catherine Fitch, who played stage manager Maria, walk past me.
I am so thrilled that TV comedy North of North is getting a second season from CBC @netflix.com and APTN. Well deserved.
I wrote a story about medical TV shows for @thestar.com Personally I loved #ThePitt but these shows have been around for decades.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to play a dead body in a crime show I can tell you. I did it on Law & Order Toronto. @thestar.com story here: bit.ly/3EJ7K6L
Canada, Bob Geldof is on our side in the trade war. He went off on Trump in his speech after the Live Aid musical Just for One Day in Toronto, which is really good, BTW
Not gonna lie, was geeking out a little at the Stranger Things Season 5 clips at yesterday’s Next on Netflix presentation. Also nice to see Mae Martin in Toronto talking about their thriller Wayward. @netflix.com
I just got a list of job opportunities from LinkedIn and at the top was “coat check attendant.” Sure, what a great fit for a writer!
Well deserved Josh!
What’s more fun than writing about a TV show? Being in a TV show. I played a very small part, like very, very small, in the 300th episode of Murdoch Mysteries, airing Jan. 20 on CBC
Except that some people eschew deodorant, which I find impolite on public transit.
Reading about Michael J. Fox winning the Presidential Medal of Freedom reminds me how lucky I was to get to interview him about the movie Still. It really was an honour.
The Golden Globes reminding me I am so woefully behind on my awards bait movie watching.
I think Tadanobu Asano yelling “I’m very happy” after winning a Golden Globe for Shogun is the energy we need right now.
Congrats to Hiroyuki Sanada for his Golden Globe win. Shogun was definitely my favourite TV show of the year.
So far the presenter banter is falling really really flat at these Golden Globes. Enjoying Nikki Glazer though.
I guess it’s Ok that Jean Smart took the best female actor #GoldenGlobe in a TV comedy over Ayo Edebiri since we all know #TheBear isn’t a comedy.
Zoe Saldana wins best supporting actress in the first #GoldenGlobe award given out. Guess this means I really do have to watch #EmiliaPerez
Sometimes in my job I get to interview people I truly admire. Molly Parker is one of them. See thestar.com/television for the story.
Merry Christmas Blueskyers! I am giving myself the gift of not paying attention today to anything involving anyone whose name rhymes with dump.
If your fave isn’t on this list don’t be offended. It probably means I didn’t have time to watch it. :)
I’m sitting in the audience at the #WizardofOz panto watching people ask Mayor Olivia Chow for photos like she’s a rock star. Kind of cool.
I can’t help but take this personally: the house where I grew up was torn down, my high school was demolished and now the building where I worked for 22 years is going.
Less than three weeks to Christmas and my writing list is in direct competition with my Christmas to-do list. Presents are overrated, right?
One of the enduring mysteries of life. Why does Soulpepper Theatre not have a coat check? Like it’s Canada in winter. Anyway, here to see #TheMasterPlan
