So far I've just bound them with discs so I got a happy planner hole punch and I got the discs at goodwill. The library I work at has a binding machine that uses the combs I've debated using and a friend has a spiral binding machine but I've never used either for this.

it's wildly unorthodox but I adore HP Premium 32 lb printer paper (it really is lovely for fountain pens) so I just use that in a disc bound notebook. Then I can print a dot grid on some pages a monthly calendar on others, and leave most of them blank.
