It’s a tight fit, but it’s so fun to ride in the front!

There is nothing better than turning a resident's rendering into reality.

In 2021, a resident group asked if @cyclingpedestrian.cityof.toronto.ca would consider installing a sidewalk on Galloway Road.

We figured out how to say yes and now the street is safer, accessible and pedestrian friendly.

‘It’s been a good ride’: Toronto’s transportation manager to retire after nine years Deputy City Manager Will Johnston announced Barbara Gray’s decision in a letter sent to council members and municipal staff on Friday

Barbara is a guiding force, the calm in the storm and an absolute champion. Toronto couldn’t have asked for a better transpo boss and I will miss her deeply every darn day www.thestar.com/news/gta/its...

There is still so much work to be done and I am excited about the future of #biketo and #walkto infrastructure, but also extremely proud to have championed and supported all the work highlighted in @jasonthorne.bsky.social’s thread.

Also so great to see a new #walkto link at Dawes & Vic Park delivered by my ops unit. Instead of just resodding a worn path, we addressed the real issue, a strong desire line. Not only did we resolve a long standing maintenance issue, but we improved accessibility and connectivity.

It was wonderful to #biketo to University of Toronto Scarborough today to guest lecture a complete streets course. One of the best parts was seeing the start of construction on Scarborough Golf Club Road: www.toronto.ca/community-pe...

Couldn’t be prouder visiting the Port Union complete street. In 2021, I guided the design change from bike lanes to cycle tracks. Now seeing it being built and soon, my ops team will ensure it can be used year round. A rare chance to experience the full lifecycle: design → delivery → maintenance.

For one of the first times, I can share- I didn’t design, just repairing it. Should we order extra letters and revise it to say YONGE STREET NOT THE LONGEST STREET?

We are trying to turn up the dial generally on repairs large, small, simple and complex. I’ll work to post more about the most satisfying #fixTO repairs.

I can’t believe it’s been 7+ months since switching jobs. I like viewing my new maintenance role as an effort to restore the soul/pride of our city. This weekend we're fixing these concrete and letters - small details that have been broken for years. It’s quieter work, but no less meaningful. #fixTO

Oops now I see @kayehm.bsky.social already answered 🤦‍♀️!

Sorry missed this. @kayehm.bsky.social can expand, but you don’t need 2 signals (ie Sumach at Queen). But if one fails, the second ensures that the full signal doesn’t go into flash and continues to provide guidance to people cycling. Purposeful redundancy.

Had an absolute blast leading a @janeswalk.bsky.social exploring the secret life of a 311 request! We followed the life and times of Pat the pothole with the grand finale of completing a temporary pothole repair together.

I totally agree. In Toronto, we don’t do snow removal every year and have a more modest fleet. We received 55 cm over two days, which is significant for TO- I don’t think this is the type of storm to judge our normal snow clearing operations.

This wasn’t a hit on Montreal! Montreal’s snow removal program is amazing. Just being grouchy because sometimes folks exaggerate the program and it can be difficult to have a realistic discussion.

Weird because almost every email I received over the past two weeks shared that Montreal‘s sidewalks and bikeways were in better shape than Toronto‘s 🤷‍♀️.

From building bikeways to clearing them. Nothing more satisfying than a well plowed bike lane #biketo
