This is AWESOME, read the whole post and comments. Such a great and perfectly characteristic Tom Lehrer story!
omg omg this is hilarious!!! THANK YOU!
With Tom Lehrer's passing, I suppose this is a moment to share the story of the prank he played on the National Security Agency, and how it went undiscovered for nearly 60 years.
Might save a life.
Interesting, the hinged one would also be easier to store compactly... except I haven't actually *seen* a hinged one, it may break some rule of which I am sadly unaware :-) If you mean storing the curved one, depends on size, I guess. Back of the linen closet?
This weird combination of petty and stupid but felt so passionately; the driving force of history.

Try the shopping tab of Google, there are some really pretty ideas. My thought was: "Hinge one branch. Swing it out of the way to return the central shamash, then swing it back in line." Does that break any rules? Here's one I thought looked rather elegant:

"We’re going to win four more years in the White House. And then after that, we’ll negotiate, right? Because we’re probably — based on the way we were treated — we are probably entitled to another four after that.” - Sept 12, 2020 Nevada rally. 2/2

"...you won't have to vote anymore..." - July 26, 2024 to conservative Christians.
"I suspect I won’t be running again unless you say, ‘He’s so good we’ve got to figure something else out,’” - November 12, 2024 to House Republicans re GOP control of both House and Senate.
Not a new idea...1/2
Don't forget that eliminating essential medical care soon "eliminates" those who need it, thus eliminating the costs over time as those who are in the programs perish. Does he really intend that?
Thank him for us. Airplanes make it really hard to contain, I'm impressed it hasn't gotten loose in USA.
Aww, you two! Blew travel timeoff on so-wonderful OVFF, but moving to Chicago in December: too late to celebrate you this year... come back there again! ❤️
Hm. Yep. At the moment, anyway.
Q: What do you get if you cross a mountain climber with an anopheles mosquito?
A: Nothing - you can't cross a scaler with a vector
OK, it's very old, but still nerdy...
