The purpose of a system is what it does. Yes other types of businesses exist (b corps, co-ops, etc.) but that doesn't mean it's how the system as a whole operates. What % of the total number of businesses are of those types? Just because they're defined doesn't mean they shape the material reality.

enjoy the moment after that

Absolutely not. Public companies aren't legally required to maximize profits, but institutional investors (hedge funds etc.) hold significant stakes and demand returns. Their voting power and profit-driven goals compel corporations to prioritize profits, making it a practical reality, not a myth.

Another US regime change, another sovereign country destroyed, Palestine one step closer to total annihilation. Another dark chapter of US imperialism. The bloodthirsty genocidaires won again.

Me: americans saw a literal genocide live on their phones and now they know the US government and media constantly lie to them

Americans: clearly the Assad government are the bad guys here!

Since that CEO was part of an ongoing investigation into a big corruption case, it would be really funny if the shooter was actually hired by some other ultra rich people (or the feds, as they do) to cover-up their own tracks but then it backfired on them like this lmao

I admire Parenti so much because despite being articulate and well-referenced, his writing is very accessible to regular people. His intentionality in this is truly commendable. I'd recommend randomly picking up any of his work and learning a thousand new things. He's such an underrated scholar

A comrade was telling me how they felt cozy and warm whenever in a library setting and I thought maybe it's because libraries allow you to experience what a socialist society could look like in the midst of all the capitalist madness. They are like a vision from a better future.

Yeah legally speaking you're right but laws are also a veneer created to protect those who are really responsible. The lawmakers and enforcers are also controlled by them.

even for an individual company, the shareholders are responsible for its inhumane profit-driven policies. The CEO just executes them. The shareholders are the real force behind the evil was my original point.

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

No there is. The major shareholders of all the corporations are no more than a few thousand people, if not less, in the whole world. They conceal their identity using institutional ownership but they are still people owning that vast wealth nevertheless. The capitalist ruling class is real.

Gentle reminder: CEOs answer to their bosses (the board of directors) who in turn answer to their bosses (major shareholders) many of whom remain anonymous. While there's significant overlap among these groups, contrary to popular belief, CEOs aren't the ultimate boss lol

The image is from the theyrule.net website where it depicts a network map of interconnected nodes and lines representing relationships among corporate boards, organizations, and individuals. Each node corresponds to either a corporation or an individual, while the lines illustrate their connections, such as shared memberships or associations. The layout visually demonstrates the interconnectivity and influence within big corporations.

Today might be a good day to share this absolute gem of a website:

Are you saying communism is not left-wing or that the DPRK is not communist? Both statements are wrong.
