BE NOT UNMERRY

Yeah, put them up this afternoon. The ones I got have about 100 animated "scenes" built in, and a thing to design your own in a mobile app. Not played with it yet, but looks promising.
These smart led "curtains" seem to actually do what they say they will, which is neat. Wasn't working outside in even a light breeze, though, so had to relocate...
Today's triumphs:
1) Figured out how to program a fresh ATMega32 with the ISP, no bootloader available or needed (built the board it's part of, too).
2) Realised the bed was a trap that would need making, and did it *before* I wanted to sleep in it!
A photo editing window from the program Darktable. The image being edited shows a few hundred heavily weathered drawing pins.
Editing Empire photos today (did I get very distracted? Yes. Oops.)
Still learning Darktable after I got terminally peeved with Adobe (I still *have* a "permanent" license for LR6, but they made it impossible to *use* on my new computer).

Today's project: fitting a set of the Intellijel 1/4 inch i/o sockets into a custom eurorack case, so I can hook up the final output neatly. Precise 11mm holes in an aluminium flight case. Not too fiddly.
Candied citrus peel, batches 2 & 3. Blanching absolutely dealt with the bitterness. Tried dipping in dark chocolate. Can see why it's traditional. Still not sure about best temperature; batch 3 caramelised a bit - colour is a little off, but I'm trying to decide if I prefer the texture.
Candied orange peel, first attempt. 20 minutes simmering in a 1:2 simple syrup. Nice texture, but more bitterness than I really want. Attempt 2 will involve blanching a few times - apparently, the bitter compounds dissolve in water, but the flavourful ones mostly don't.
IMD, huh?
I'll just say that learning to dance tango in the follower role was a great way to learn to lead better, but really highlighted a bunch of entrenched gender-role stuff in my brain, that I can easily trace back to my teens and before.
Not surprised it messed a lot of us up, tbh.
Today, I am trying to learn SMD soldering. With moderate success. The whole board is the size of a business card. Done with a cheap hot-air station and a syringe of solder paste.

Chatsworth House. They've decorated. It's... a lot.
Climate change wakeup call: The restaurant I ate lunch in on Friday is in the video the BBC are using to illustrate flooding in Málaga, today...
