How do you imagine our climate future? 🚀

For a new paper, Ramit Debnath and colleagues asked citizens of 22 countries around the world to imagine a future with climate interventions. They generated 299 different responses, highlighting the impacts of our choices and inclusivity now.

Geoengineering: catalyst or threat?

That's the question asked at the Arctic Circle Rome Forum - Polar Dialogue this week. Our director, Shaun Fitzgerald, joined an expert panel to discuss the potential benefits and risks of geoengineering in addressing climate change.

Our own Prof Hugh Hunt emphasised one thing the article got right: solar geoengineering is not to be promoted as a "solution to global heating... All these ideas are the subject of serious research, in universities around the world, that takes ethical and governance considerations seriously."

Last week, @theguardian.com published an Editorial on geoengineering. Tagline: "Sun-dimming risks putting the planet’s thermostat under Donald Trump’s control. Better to adopt the precautionary principle with high-stakes science."

Today, three Letters push back against the claims of the article.
