This isn't to say that the Dems were doing everything right.. I can wax poetically about how the Dems are NEARLY as bad as the Republicans.. Same as Cons and Libs here in Canada.

But, while I HATE tomatoes, if my choices are a Tomato sandwich or Shit sandwich, I know which one I'm eating.

That seat was going to be a republican seat, one way or another (as seen by who sits in it now). At least, with Manchin, there was some benefit to it. Would I like a Dem in that seat? Of course. I also wish my bloodhound pooped gold.

That said, I couldn't stand Joe Manchin, but his 'd' next to his name gave Dems a chance to set committees, procedure, and legislative control.
