I didn't call anyone an idiot.

Not every thought I have is some emotionless Vulcan calculation, IDK.

I keep telling myself they have their reasons, and I'm sure they do, but I've not convinced myself they're great ones.

I'm just going to reiterate:

Turns out I never lost my enthusiasm or wonder for spaceflight, I just fucking hate Elon Musk and his idiotic bullshit.

Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that.

Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best.

Welcome home, Integrity crew!

NASA failed to predict the real splashdown risk.

My son just asked how they open the capsule and I said giant can opener. He is no longer asking me any questions so mission accomplished.

Perseverance's Parachute Code The illustration on the right shows a diagram overlaid on the parachute deployed during the descent of the Mars Perseverance rover (shown on the left).…

When Perseverance landed on Mars there was a secret code in the parachute pattern (www.planetary.org/space-images...).

Well, if it's United, just saying.

I think a lot of us needed this reminder that good things are still possible even with *gestures*.

I was an infant when Apollo 11 landed on the Moon, it's amazing to get to see this!

Does Integrity have ADS-B? That would be a pretty awesome grab in SkyCards.

Driving earlier and a car in the oncoming lane was beeping their horn and flashing their lights. I didn't see any police, so I thought to myself, "Did...did it happen?" I got home and, sadly, no, not yet.

For those of us who never used all of our Bluesky invite codes before they went away, they should be turned into uninvite codes where we can delete accounts of our choice

Happy Confederate surrender day!

This should be a national holiday, and it says a lot that it isn’t.

The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.

Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

OK. I don't agree with you on that because I don't think it's right to withhold that from the reviewers, but I see where you're coming from.

I want to make sure I understand what you're suggesting. Are you proposing that disclosure to potential reviewers be "AI was used in the preparation of this manuscript -- yes or no?", but the editor may have access to more complete information?

2 days ago 0 0 1 0

It comes down to, "Do I know and trust the authors?", which is problematic for early career scientists who I may not know. But I don't believe AI is trustworthy, and I don't have the time to spend guessing which parts of the analysis are credible, and which aren't. Just write your own papers, I do.

As a reviewer, I don't care to spend my time reviewing something the author couldn't be bothered to write themselves. So I'm a hard no on AI-drafted manuscripts. As far as the use of AI to generate figures, assist with writing software, etc., I'm very leery but I take it on a case-by-case basis.

“You’re alienating half of your audience by being political”

Motherfucker, my “audience” is people who aren’t pieces of shit, who care about others. That’s who I make stuff for.

There is no “other half”.

Dismantle DHS. Abolish and prosecute ICE. Citizenship and amnesty for all immigrants who have not committed a violent crime.

That’s the bare minimum and we can’t accept anything less.
