A freshly unboxed copy of Dark Science Volume I
Hardcover collections of Hob, The Tomorrow Girl, and Dark Science Volume 1
@dresdencodak.com I have received my copy of Dark Science and couldn't be more excited to have it! Now I've got the whole set.
Hype poisoning is real
The other reason we use cars is because we need drastic improvements in public transit. Outside of Chicago or going into Chicago (*love* Metra), it's difficult to get around without a car in the suburbs. The difference in time between me driving to work and taking Pace is half-an-hour and a transfer
Both the Wye Oak shows we saw were *so* good.
Criterion flash sale tomorrow.
*first day on arrakis, haven't got the hang of walking without rhythm*
*hear a low rumbling*
worm (muffled but becoming less so): THEY CALL ME DR. WORM
GOOD MORNING HOW ARE YOU I'M DOCTOR WORM
I LIKE TO PLAY THE DRUMS
*as i am swallowed by worm* I THINK I'M GETTING GOOD BUT I CAN HANDLE CRITICISM
Two six-packs of bottled soda sitting on a kitchen counter. A pack of regular flavor Ale-8 and a pack of blackberry flavor.
My dad (@unclelar.bsky.social) came up from Kentucky this weekend and brought me some delicacies from that southern land! Love the original flavor, excited to try the blackberry.
Yeah, I was worried about this one. I think I'd have preferred Kelly, but I'll take it.
An "I Voted" sticker
I did the thing! Have you?
I think I've said it before, but I'm glad to be in the 14th district. I do not envy the folks that have to make this decision.
I get that you're doing it to line up with South By, but next time just do it in Chicago (The Onion) or Seattle (Bluesky), my dude. Nobody wants to go to Texas in 2026
I am unreasonably excited! ๐
No, the lesson is to not use *email* if you value your privacy. You can make it *more* secure, never completely secure. Also, paying by credit card is bad OPSEC if you're doing nefarious deeds.
I do love a Volvo. I think a Peugeot 505 wagon would be super kick-ass too though
Wonder how many "those aren't mine" jokes Roz can squeeze into this episode ๐
Yup, I remember installing Linux and Solaris on second-hand servers in high school. Got me into IT, and today I'm a sysadmin *because* of that.
IBM/Lenovo's way of strongly encouraging you to use the TrackPoint. The superior pointing device! ๐
Apparently this is on macOS too. They can pry Sequoia from my cold dead SSD. Blegh!
I think the Cube wins that battle, but the NeXTstation is pretty nice too.
Wish Chicago had a team.
Unfortunately, I'm in an apartment, so I don't really want to be changing out switches. Totally preferable in places where possible though.
For non-smartbulbs I can second that Sylvania have been quite good. For smartbulbs I've had good luck with Aquara
Youโre stuck in the last movie you watchedโฆ (Answer with a GIF)
It's a pity that John Flansburgh is probably too busy (what with the new TMBG album coming out), but I would love to see them work together again. Artificial Heart is still my favorite Coulton album.
Upside to nitro, it should age *beautifully*
Update: the GG1 episode was everything I'd hoped it would be. 10/10 will sub again!
Okay, fine! I'll sign up for the Patreon! You drive a hard bargain. ๐
All I know is, they're not getting any ID from me. They've already proven they can't be trusted with people's data (after the 3rd party they picked to do age verification for the UK got hacked). As soon as they age-gate me, I'm done with them.
