Also I got to meet this Peacock, and that was nice.

My wife hasn't been well for the last couple of years, and this was the first time we were able to go on holiday in a long while. So we're in Lisbon and it's blessedly normal.
Back to making stuff soon.

Little show update:
Layering then handpainted and procedural textures. Here's a village pub from 1931.

Been away for the weekend, but here's some finished shader work. Its a mixture of overlaying shifting uvs, some sobel and kuwuhara, and then some clamped interpolated textures.

Had a little time away because of family illness, but here's an updated look at one of the shaders for These Lanes I Watch Into The Fog. Some palette work and modelling to do, but we're getting there. Thanks for bearing with. See you in 2026

Some new texture tests and animation instancing for the new show. Slowly but surely.

Yes, I will fix the hands.

David Callaghan - Comedian - Home I've been touring this show around for a little while, its been lovely to do and nice to recieve some nice things along the way. It's coming to the end with some dates in Turku, Finland, and London before I drive it and the van into the sea.

Had a bit chop at my website.
Its got a bouncepage, a bit of a load time, and not much new information at the moment. But, hey, it's a living. More as we get it.

This Government refused to stand up when they witnessed Genocide. Shameful cowardice or inhuman complicity that should follow each and every one of them around for the rest of their lives.

Having the refs mic'ed up has confirmed the thing I always knew. That the only phrase they say with any sense of authority is 'mum says you have to give me a turn with the controller'.

'Can you grab me a San Pellegrino out of the fridge? They're just next to the lotion in the basket.'

I'll be honest, San Pellegrino, if I open up someone's fridge and see that then I'd be 100% certain they're a serial killer.

I mostly work in realtime animation so up to this point I've mainly been making textures smaller to process faster. Besides a couple of months in my MA I've never really gone into shader maths before, so its cool to have a bit of a go.

On my lunch hour I had another little go at Cotton Wool, density + displacement maps, and a bit of maths etc. Bit too silky, not quite enough disruption as yet.

Lens effect bloom pushes a lot of values around and I don't quite have a handle on how to counteract them in resolve as yet. This is too much, but slightly less isn't enough. What fun.

Finally getting down to actually understanding the maths behind height maps. Avoided it for years but the time has come. Also, trying to rid myself of all adobe poison so learning Da Vinci Resolve workarounds.

Here's a bad thing I made as a test because the colour spaces are different. ENJOY.

Like all things I like they couldn't quite turn their creative quality into monetary success.

Pop sea shanty inspired punk filled with satire, humour, and clever touches.

The bass often plays the melody and the guitar the harmony making it deceptively complex in places.

They made two records and two eps, none of which was anything less than class.

Drop It 'Til It Pops - YouTube

Nearly twenty years since this record came out. I remember asking for it in Concepts record shop in Durham, only for the man to sigh, open the CD player and take it out. They only had one copy and he's been playing it on repeat.

I don't know if you see anything with that sort of fluidity or care for motifs and little echoes very much. Probably why it's so striking when you do.
Also a young David Thewlis is in it for a bit.
