Also if you're curious to see an anime vs cel comparison on Lost Universe, I did manage to find one anime frame that matched one of the available cels. Lucky episode 1 pull lol I did have to stitch this as it was a pan up.

Though now it’s clear X-28 probably isn’t meant to be that dark, it still doesn’t answer if the paint used on Sonic was just darker than spec or if the paint aged with time. I’d have to be so bold as to @ staff that worked on it to ask.

So yeah, Sonic’s shoes are darker than most of the samples while the chart appears accurate to them. I wish there’s more characters to compare with though but I’m satisfied with that. One question remains unanswered, though.

Being a main character, naturally there’s a wealth of Millie cels available but I kept it to 4 for convenience. Now we have several samples of X-28 to compare, so let’s!

After scrolling setteidreams.net (support them btw) for 3 days on and off, I found Millie. She’s a main character in the series Lost Universe (1998) and importantly for me, wears X-28 loud and proud on her main outfit. Talk about a lucky break!

I’ve always wondered why the cel’s shoes are so dark. Did the paint poorly age? If so, why not all the colours? Why only the shoes? To figure out, I’d have to find another X-28 sample to cross-reference...
