For everyone else 22/7 is a really good alternative.

14/3 is a terrible approximation for pi.

There are more local greens than you think. We need to counter the rise of Reform by working together. 💚

Anyone else noticing zero effort from the supermarkets this #veganuary? If anything, my local stores have actually reduced their offerings even more. Just one brand of vegan cheese etc.

Any timeline for a Solent Byline Times?

For many people, myself included, this directly incentivises drivers to pick petrol cars over EVs, because if you can't charge from home, the cost per mile for an EV is 1.5x more expensive than petrol under this new tax. This will 100% reduce demand for EVs.

All while incentivising motorists to buy cheaper petrol cars (via punitive taxation on EVs), removing funding from the poorest to insulate their homes or install low carbon heating, doing nothing to combat excessing frequent fliers & private jets, and green lighting North Sea oil extraction.

Ok, so you can (and should) increase the cost to the motorist, but you also need to give them an alternative such as well funded, reliable and frequent public transport.

So Labour are defining middle-class as anyone not on benefits. There's a massive range of income/wealth in that definition, and those just above the threshold for benefits would be massively punished. Locking in another decade of gas dependency is lose/lose situation.

There's a marked lack of vegan offerings anywhere these days. Grab what you can! The food industry successfully leveraged the "ultra-processed" topic to bring their market back to more profitable non-vegan options. Funny how that "ultra-processed" pushback only affected vegan food. 🤔

Complan is just a powdered milk energy drink. Huel is a complete meal replacement, which is both cheaper and healthier than a typical meal deal office lunch. Chilled overnight it’s like a posh milkshake. Lots of flavours to choose from. Agree that its not to everyone’s taste though.

Very annoying. Swiped it away to hopefully read later, to find no option to do this. Not great.

Obviously, any saving in emissions is proportional to the individual gas usage. For our example where we only use 1,500kwh of gas per year I can’t see it providing either emissions or cost savings.

Next week I’ll be attending a donation event at my local community centre - my 23rd donation so far. It’s a simple, painless procedure which is over in a few minutes. You even get free drinks and snacks! As a bonus you could save 3 lives.

Regular is 2 round trips per year? I average 1 round trip per decade. Totally agree though - Ultra frequent flyers are socialising the costs of their habits, and I for one do not wish to pay to support it.

Most of it comes from lack of knowledge. I’ve heard many say you have to milk the cow otherwise it’s cruel, or if we don’t kill and eat cows the population would surge and they would start dying for lack of food.

Failing to understand how this can be in anyones interest other than Oil industry. How many people out there are clamouring for LESS efficiency and HIGHER running costs? Go USA!

Fantastic article @herbivoreclub.bsky.social, we need to raise the aspirations of our young adult males. Saving the planet and protecting the future can be manly too.

Trees are cut down for little or no reason almost weekly. Locally over 300 large trees were removed one way or another, which removes habitat for many species. Can we have this kind of law enforcement for every felling?

Just wondering if exports count in the WWF donation calculations? Not clear in the email.

I was told in ‘92 by someone younger than I am now that it was “too difficult to go vegan”. Sadly I believed them, and it took me another 26 years before finally ditching the dairy and egg. The biggest “difficulty” is always with/from others and never yourself.

Where is this reported? Shocking if true. Times when demand is highest will be times when the wholesale price is high too. At 22p/kWh nobody will take part and this will increase the likelihood of blackouts.

Do you have a better idea, or will we have headlines like “Glastonbury sells out in 6 minutes” by 2028? Maybe that’s part of the experience, but still impossible for people like me to get tickets.
