I'm dreaming up a container that could self water tomatoes that ALSO can hang them up out the sides... maybe. I haven't seen anyone attempt it yet, though... so it might be a foolish dream. I want a water reservoir since I can't see them every day.

I hope you have luck with yours ❤️. Mine is showing its water resistance without the oily film sheen here, which pleases me a lot. Its so beautiful under correct lighting which isn't showing in the picture.

Iunno, Mineral oil finishes on wood feel slimy to me when "dry"? I dislike it. And they have to refine chemicals often to get it. And I saw a lot of discussion on Linseed oil grades being tricky to assess. Tung oil, though expensiveish upfront seems like the best cheapest option.

At least US side there are 2 companies that provide the pure stuff?? Hope's Says Food safe 100%. ~18 USD==~.5 Liter. Walrus oil (100% tung oil) 1L= 31USD. Olasir? worldwide brand? 15 USD=.5 L. Mine is Olasir. Best part, it's sustainable since it's from nuts.

Yes. 100% tung oil, no thinners, solvents, or other things. It's a wipe on, wipe off process. Though you won't become Mr. Miyagi's student... by the end and instead get a great looking cutting board instead. Should be labeled 100% tung oil.

Also, it's kinda shitty, I think to be Jewish and celebrate thanksgiving on the back of Native American traditions and not acknowledge the weight of the history there. You celebrate Passover, but then don't acknowledge the hurt settler culture had. I had no choice. We should remember.

I kinda feel a responsibility with my anthropology degree to prop up other PoC groups, ya know... but I also want to grow Hopniss and remind them of the genocide...

Watching a video on the American groundnut (Hopniss) and it's saying it was during the Wampanoag Thanksgiving, they'd have eaten it. I made a Native American dish indigenous to the region one year for my white family to talk about the first thanksgiving and the genocide and then wasn't invited back.

You want to repeat this every 6 months-ish with regular use. With Mineral oil (food safe) you have to repeat once a month. =P I'm not that diligent. Linseed oil, even sourcing the pure stuff can be tricky, so I skipped that one. Tung Oil all the way.

Mostly I wanted mine because I'm short on counter space and I wanted to make bread with it. I ended up coating mine 3 times and it is completely dry to the touch now. ^^ I forgot to wash it beforehand which is also why I did it three times instead of 2. No residue left.

3. It'll be dry to the touch after about 24 hours. PURE 100% tung oil is food safe, unlike the guide that says it takes a month for it too be food safe. You can wait a few days, before use if you like though it won't fully cure for another week. i.e. repel water.

2. Put some tung oil on a cloth. Wipe it down, wait for 15-30 minutes. Wipe off the excess with a cloth. Wait for about 12 hours. Repeat the coating. Wipe it down generously with tung oil. 15-20 minutes. Wait for about 12 hours. You can do one more coat if you want, but it won't make much difference

1. Get 100% tung oil. DO NOT FLOOD YOUR CUTTING BOARD. Every guide that says to flood it, is wrong. That's for other wood pieces. Make sure it is 100%.
Clean said cutting board quickly with soap and water both sides. Dry with towel. DO NOT LET SIT IN WATER. Let completely dry.

My new cutting board🍽️. It's wood. So, there was a claim that it takes a "month" to cure if you use tung oil. That it won't feel dry to the touch. After 24 hours, it lost the sheen from left hand picture, to right hand picture. It takes about 1 week to cure. This is how...

BTW, if you pull the old raspberry out, you can dry the leaves for raspberry leaf tea. The ones I see mentioned for thornless are Carolina Thornless and Joan J... but check it against your zone/country. There might be better ones than that for your climate.

I got these slick long leather gloves that help me against dragonfruit and roses. But I'd pull them and put thornless in their spot. They are telling you that more friendly ones could go there. Maybe some thornless blackberries, too.

There are thornless raspberry varieties... an also leather gloves that help against thorns.

I have a controversial #worldbuilding question for #biologists. On an exoplanet independent of Earth's evolution with water, what is the likelihood that lactobacilli and yeast would naturally exist? AND if beneficial bacteria and microorganisms don't exist on the planet, could a human survive?

#History should rename "The Age of Exploration" as "The Age of Massive Imperialism" or "The Age of Colonization" What were you exploring that wasn't already occupied? I've also heard it as, "Age of Discovery" Again, it was discovered.

The Korean rock fern (dead) and white foot fern would have been in better shape if I hadn't let the coelus amboinicus overgrow.

My other frog tank (pacman) has various pothos, coelus amboinicus and he loves hiding in it.

This is a collection of plants in my frog's terrarium: Baltic blue pothos is on the left hand side, a Black foot ferm, a dracanea (Lucky bamboo), a coelus amboinucus (which LOVES it in here), and a white foot fern. And a Scindapsus Moonlight. I'm going to try a Korean rock fern again...

This is the much beaten up Korean chives. I've had this for a number of years where it's gotten beaten up a lot. Probably needs more sun... In the back is the black zz plant and at the bottom is a syngonium red arrow. I also have three pothos: satin, golden and marble queen.

Ignore the Thai sweet Tamarind tree in the front, which is growing vigorously compared to the Sour Tamarind seeds I planted. In the back is a Mexicola tree I grafted onto a Fuerte rootstock, which has taken. I found the fuerte avocado on the ground last year.

So I totally forgot about this cutting of coelus amboinicus for about a week, put it into soil, and look. lol It took and new growth. My record is 3 weeks of taking a cutting, and then entirely forgetting it and it still roots. Smells aromatic. Good for pasta sauces. I'm going to bonsai & sell.

This is my coelus amboinicus. I bonsaied it. It's really easy to bonsai and as I'm about to show, really difficult to kill.
