Following positive feedback from other venues, like STOC and ICML, NeurIPS is pleased to announce a new initiative in partnership with Google: for NeurIPS 2026, authors will have access to Google's Paper Assistant Tool (PAT) to help improve their submissions.

Google's Paper Assistant Tool was extremely popular, giving AI feedback on ~4500 submissions prior to the #ICML2026 deadline.
Results were positive! 92% of participants said they'd use it again, and 73% rated the feedback as helpful.

As co-comms chair of ICML 2026 (w @kgorman.bsky.social), I'm super proud of how transparent we've been able to be on all of the (bold!) decisions made. Thanks to all the organizers (esp PC chairs) for being aligned on this.
The community deserves to understand these important decisions
Machine learning is an *international community*. Every community is based on mutual trust and respect. But communities are not robust to betrayals of these principles.
Protect our community by reporting, e.g., review collusion or submission deanonymization via this form 👇
Apologies if that’s your impression. We collect information to help with screening, but these are the requirements:
We’re curious too. It is meant to act together with the reciprocal reviewing requirements.
New blog post (on a shiny new ICML blog!): What's New in #ICML2026 Peer Review
Some highlights:
- Policies to combat thinly sliced contributions
- Cascading desk rejections for peer-review abuse
- Reviewer reciprocity
- New ways to support authors and reviewers

Following our previous #ICML2026 call for tutorial topics, we now welcome tutorial proposals!
📆Deadline: February 6, but proposals will be reviewed as they arrive

Fears that all ICML 2026 reviewers will want to use LLMs are not materializing (so far)!
We have started recruiting reviewers, and their LLM preferences are similar to our survey: 20% conservative (A), 30% permissive (B), 50% happy either way (A+B). Main difference from survey: some shift A->A+B.
ICML reaffirms its support to the community and standards of conduct:
- We do not tolerate harassment or other improper conduct;
- Academic integrity is paramount;
- We redouble our support to peer review, with more incentives for reviewers & financial support for OpenReview
