Today! Come see what I’ve been up to for the last year with one of my professors! There are also implications for school librarians (which is somewhat what my dissertation will focus on!)

Here is a *good thing*.

I put together a FREE TOOLKIT with the Brooklyn Public Library's Books Unbanned team to help raise and support the next generation of anti-book ban, pro-library advocates.

Just looked through ALA’s schedule and realized I’m presenting a “timely topic”! #ala2025 who else is heading to ALA this year??

Girl I live that daily! It’s frustrating and tiring. I never get everything I want done and I feel handcuffed to my library. We can chat more if you want.

None the less, I’m grateful it got found and removed. I’m basically fine, a little sun-shy at this point, otherwise doing ok. People see my surgery scar and I tell them they should see the other guy. 😆 so anyhow. I still exist (though I’m probably on TT far too much..) 😆

Been MIA for a hot minute. Sorry. 🤷🏻‍♀️ To sum up: got diagnosed stage 2 melanoma-had surgery for removal-did biopsy-found it traveled to lymph node-now considered stage 3-got MRI/PET scans-all clear-now starting a years worth of immunotherapy. Oh also I’m a hard stick so had to have a port put in.

Know Your Protest Rights:
1. You don't need a permit to protest in response to breaking news and you don't need a permit to march in the streets along sidewalks, as long as you're not obstructing traffic or access to buildings.
2. When you are lawfully present in any public space, you have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including federal buildings and the police.
3. If you believe your rights have been violated, when you can, write down everything you remember, get contact information for witnesses, and take photographs of any injuries.
4. If you get stopped by the police, ask if you're free to go. If they say yes, calmly walk away.
5. If you get arrested, you have a right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately. Don't sign, say or agree to anything without a lawyer present.
6. If you get stopped by a member of the military or any law enforcement officer at a protest, you have the right to remain silent to tell them that you'll only answer questions in the presence of an attorney -- no matter your citizenship or immigration status.

Books mentioning slavery, civil rights removed from shelves at Fort Campbell schools - ClarksvilleNow.com At an elementary school at Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne Division, librarians are hard at work scrubbing the shelves for books that contain references to slavery, the civil rights movement...

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement.

The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

I dare say that one of the most tedious things of beginning this dissertation process is the lit review. My eyes and brain literally want to cross from all the articles I’ve been reading. But, I’ve got checkpoints and goals to hit, so read I must!!! #doctoralcandidate #phdlife

Wow! Hello all my new followers! Just a fair warning to those thinking of following me - I quickly block p0rnbots and other suspicious accounts. What makes you NOT suspicious? Well, a bio definitely helps, as well as a post or more. Easy peasy! Anyhow, happy cray cray Monday!

Bye bye TikTok. I’m so sad right now. Currently the F app and the I app are in a BANNED folder - I will not feed the machine. If you need me I’ll be reading for my dissertation readings or on the Y app…

Nope. Never. And I can’t even blame my kid - it’s my cats that usually screw me over! 🤣🤣

Self censorship is real. I don’t blame librarians - it’s a difficult position to be put in. I *cant* have some of those books just in the picture based on MO law (sigh). But to be instructed by a district? Not cool, KISD…
