Perhaps Magyar's most important promise, and the one that certainly resonates with voters: "never again a country without consequences!"

The crowd chants: "To prison! To prison!" [with the corrupt officials of the outgoing government]

With 90% reporting, Tisza is leading by 16 percentage points and projected to win 138 of 199 seats — above the 2/3rds majority. Crushing defeat for Orban.

BBC is reporting that Tisza has won 138 (!!!) seats in Hungary’s parliament, which gives them a supermajority sufficient to change their constitution.

They needed 132. Astonishing.

It's not just that Orbán losing inspires hope in other competitive-autocratic countries ruled by right-wing nationalist authoritarians. It's that his loss materially changes things in those other countries, because he's been operating as a headquarters and funding source...

With the count at 53% TISZA and 38% Fidesz, the lead is even larger than the pooled polls *only* by independent and opposition-affiliated pollsters, which over a week ago was at 50% vs 38%.

BREAKING: Hungary just saw a stunning political shakeup. Opposition leader Péter Magyar says Prime Minister Viktor Orbán personally called to congratulate him on his victory, marking the imminent end to Orbán’s long grip on power.

2/3 of seats for Tisza likely. Party will be able to change constitution and cardinal laws to dismantle the party state. Hopefully it will do so responsibly to build foundations for pluralistic democracy. #Hungary

Orbán Will Lose Hungary’s Election in Two Weeks—If It’s Clean Péter Magyar is a seemingly unstoppable force—but don’t expect the embattled Orbán to give up without a fight.

One corrupt wannabe authoritarian down. One to go.

Viktor Orbán: The weight of governance is not on our shoulders, our job now is to strengthen our community
"We don't know now what the election results will mean for the fate of our country and the nation, time will tell, but we will serve our country even in opposition," said Orbán.

“The task before us is clear, the weight of governance is not on our shoulders, so our job now is to strengthen our community,” he said. “2.5 million Hungarians have supported us, we will never let them down.”

It looks like the opposition in Hungary will have a near 2/3rds supermajority. Fidesz is already alleging massive fraud. My preditction is Fidesz will nullify the election, win in the courts they rigged, weather the protests, and emerge still in power.

It's a preview of the US in 2028-2029.
