He did not “escalate rhetoric” and he didn’t “taunt”. Taunting is saying someone is fat or weak. He gave an unhinged rant and threatened “hell” and widespread war crimes. How is this difficult, @nytimes.com?

The one thing everyone gets wrong about feminism People love to declare the death of the women’s movement, pointing to the ‘failure’ of #MeToo or the Epstein files, but don’t give up the fight just yet, writes Rebecca Solnit

I found this Guardian article by Rebecca Solnit tremendously cheering:

A cartoon by Ron Cobb (1975), showing a shadow of US B-52 bomber above cratered landscape. Two people who look like Vietnamese peasants look up; one says “they’re having problems with their economy again.”

Notable message from President Zelensky. The USA is clearly putting pressure on Ukraine to hand over more of its land to dictatorial Russia.

Good to see the Ukrainian pushback--but the USA should hang its head in shame.

Send Canadian oil to Cuba - CCPA The United States is attempting to deliberately trigger a humanitarian crisis in Cuba. Canada must act in concert with regional allies to defy the blockade.

Canada is uniquely positioned to break the siege of Cuba—we should be leading a regional coalition to ship oil and aid to Cuba, and prevent the humanitarian crisis that U.S. regime is attempting to deliberately trigger.

I wrote about it, and the history of the blockade, for @policyalternatives.ca

When I was a student at the NS Agricultural College (1980’s) there was a Ribston Pippin tree in the orchard. As I remember now they were the best apples ever!

Back of the Cogswell belt engraved with George Brown’s name repeatedly.

In fact, he won this beautiful Cogswell Rowing belt so many times that it became his to keep. The belt was commissioned by Halifax alderman Charles Cogswell in 1858. It was made in England with additional decorative work by Halifax silversmith Julius Cornelius.

Competitive rowing has long been a popular sport in Nova Scotia. And there was no one faster than George Brown, a fisherman from Herring Cove, Nova Scotia. He dominated the sport during the 1860s and 70s.
