🚨Email your MP to back my Bill to ban pesticides from public spaces! 🐝🌱

We’re facing a biodiversity crisis and our urban areas can help reverse this decline.

100 councils have already taken action and with proper legislation and guidance, the rest can too.

How will bats respond to climate change? Our new paper shows that Nathusius's pipistrelles are likely to expand their European range, but most other bats will lose out. Things look particularly bad for the pond bat, which is already declining rapidly. 🌍🦇#bats #climatechange doi.org/10.1111/cobi...

The Observer view on SUVs: they are too dangerous and too big, their drivers should be made to pay If a car generates more potholes, takes up more space and poses more risk, it is only fair that its owner pays more

“If a car generates more potholes in our roads, takes up more parking space and poses more danger to pedestrians, cyclists and other car occupants compared with smaller vehicles, then it is only fair that its owner pays more for driving that vehicle.”

Very early budburst on pedunculate oaks. Quite widespread in the wood. Any late frosts will clobber them (and the caterpillars hatching on them). The oak phenology is much earlier than the breeding tits, which are nowhere near egg-laying yet.

‘Bridget Phillipson has suggested cutting school spending by £500 million and ending universal free meals for infants.’

Is this the same Labour that campaigned tirelessly for free primary school breakfast clubs, or did I dream that?

UK charities urge ministers to stop scapegoating nature for planning failures Exclusive: RSPB and National Trust among groups saying rhetoric from Rachel Reeves and Keir Starmer at odds with public sentiment Nature charities with a combined membership of about 8 million people are pressing the prime minister and chancellor to stop demonising wildlife and to urgently strengthen environmental protections in new planning laws. Organisations which are household names, such as the RSPB, the National Trust and the Wildlife Trusts, are calling on MPs to back amendments to the planning and infrastructure bill to end what they say is the scapegoating of nature for the failures of the planning system.
